Inspirational Theft?, Other designer stealing original ideas? |

I have a slight problem with another new xanga designer. Without mentioning names, this designer has been looking at my layouts and designing her own that are very similar in both design and originality. When I say similar, I mean the same sort of layout, featured pictures, fonts and general idea.
I feel kinda depressed about this, after all my layouts take days to think up, design and code. I understand that imitation is the highest form of flattery; but since this designer's layouts are so similar to mine and are also designed in a quarter of the time and for public use; I'm a little angry. I have also caught this designer using my stylesheet - but forgiven and offered what support I can, as long as my stylesheet is not used. I'm not sure where this topic be best suited, but thought I'd post it in here for some advice from other designers. Is this copyright infringement? Or just admiration taken a little too far? |

i think it's copying. There are some types of copying where it their ideas. Then there are times where it's exactly like yours.

If you layouts are copright then yes. If they're using your stylesheet, that is stealing. This is almost exactly like how everyone is ripping off exmplosm.com They were the orginal creaters, while other people just alter their idea, and claim as though they came up with the ideas.

I have the same exact problem with a particular designer on here too. It really pissed me off at first really. But now I don't care. You really can't do anything about it unless you confront them about it.

Aww,
 thank you!I do work so hard on them. It makes me sad that someone can just come along and copy them. I swear, if this designer gets to be an offical Designer here on cb, I'll cry.

 We all get our ideas somewhere, no? Still, if it's that obvious that they're being "inspired" from you, then yeah, I'd say you can't do nothing unless you confront the designer. Though usually, I think they fight back in denial. lol.
