Well, I've never used a tampon before, but I heard from a friend that she read about a girl who used a tampon and forgot to take it out. She felt sick and she was sent to the ER. When she was there the doctor asked her if she was on her period. And she suddenly remembered she had the tampon in there still. When she took it out, she felt much better.
I heard there's a syndrome or something that goes along with using tampons. Any experience? |

I find it odd that anyone could forget about a tampon. I mean, when you pee, theres a string to deal with. It's a little reminder. lol

![]() Well if you read the warning labels there is some sort of disease you can contract from it, like brownsugar said, TSS. I also heard from another friend if you change your tampon regularly, like before it is really used,, it can hurt to take it out, but thats not a disease ![]() |

I don't understand how you pee with a tampon. I can't do it. I have to change it every time I got to the bathroom. what like the tampon is stopping it from coming out? theres suppose to be two holes,,, down there, and one of them is where your period comes out and the other is where you pee. idk though, i don't like tampons, they scare me,, especially after seeing the picture of how to insert it ![]() -sorry about the double post ![]() |

I don't understand how you pee with a tampon. I can't do it. I have to change it every time I got to the bathroom. Me, too. I feel disgusted at the idea of having a cotton string soaked up with piss in my panties all day. But, yes, if you buy a box of tampons, they always include an insert about the causes / effects of TSS and how to prevent it. ![]() what like the tampon is stopping it from coming out? theres suppose to be two holes,,, down there, and one of them is where your period comes out and the other is where you pee. idk though, i don't like tampons, they scare me,, especially after seeing the picture of how to insert it blink.gif -sorry about the double post _unsure.gif - Tampons are amazing, btw. If you learn how to use them correctly, they are HEAVEN compared to pad-diapers. |

::shrugs:: There are two holes, so it wouldn't be pushed out, or even touching. And you hold the string out of the way so it's not soaked in piss.

Tampons are uncomfortable to use. Well for me anyway. I mean, having something stuck in there for so long...eww. As far as getting sick by using it: sometimes it is not always that you forget to take it out. You might have to alternate between tampons and pads. Using just tampons even if you change it can make you feel a little woozy. If using tampons, its best just to use for important occasions, like parties, weddings, etc. Other than that, pads are safer. Just remember to change pads too, because blood itself is toxic.

I use both. I use tampons because I don't like the whole blood clotting feeling, and I use pads just in case of spotting and spills.
Know what I mean Jellybeans? I like being on the safe side. |

well i guess tampons are good to use if your swimming or whatnot, but from what i understand, your period will stop while you are in water, like in the shower or whatnot, so thats not a BIG worry, unless your irregular and you do still have it while in water.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. |

was it as scary as most people [including me] think it is? ive tried to use them...it just doesn't work! & it didnt hurt right? haha i think its scary too. Well the instructions says that a lot of girls are scared of the idea of tampons if they have actually never had one on. So when you insert it in, you just need to be calm, and if its uncomfortable, just take it out and try again ![]() i dont know though personally, but that is basically what the instructions say. |

tss. theres usually a pamplet that comes with a box of tampons warning you of this sickness.
or you can google. hardly anyone gets it. so the chances of you getting it are slim to none. Me, too. I feel disgusted at the idea of having a cotton string soaked up with piss in my panties all day. Tampons are amazing, btw. If you learn how to use them correctly, they are HEAVEN compared to pad-diapers. my tampon string never gets peed on. and yes, ill agree..i f**king hate pads. seriously, my hatred towards those stupid diaper things are huge. |

Uh, no it doesn't. And a girl from my school actually passed away from TSS. "That disease is TSS, or Toxic Shock Syndrome. TSS is a very rare bacterial disease, and it can be fatal. But you don’t need to be afraid of using tampons because of TSS. The disease is associated with tampon absorbency, and it’s more likely to affect users of super-absorbency tampons who don’t change them often enough. To be on the safe side, change your tampon every four hours, and use the least absorbency possible without risk of ruining your white capris. If you experience symptoms such as a high temperature, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and a rash, remove the tampon and contact your doctor immediately. " for all those wondering.... and i checked online, i've gotten different answers about if your period stops or not, some say it doesn't some say its lighter some says it stops for 15-25 minutes. so idk. ![]() |

I don't understand how you pee with a tampon. I can't do it. I have to change it every time I go to the bathroom. ![]() Yea, like everyone else said theirs something called TSS you can get, also known as toxic shock syndrome. How the girs could forget her tampon was inside her no one will really never know. The chances of forgetting are like .1% When you go to the bathroom or something theirs a string so thats like a little reminder. No, tampons dont hurt. Just make sure you put them in properly, and change them every few hours. Heres a link for info. on TSS |

Tampons are like Jesus compared to pads. Once you get used to them you'll feel stupid for ever being afraid of them.
And like everyone said, your chances for getting TSS are like one in one thousand. As long as you're careful and change regularly, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. |
