I know I love to be sarcastic. I do it all the time in rl. But not as much online unless I really kno who I'm talking to and they know me well. Otherwise, it just starts fights cuz I'm misunderstood.

What do you guys think?

Personally, I wish there was a way of being sarcastic on the net so that ppl dont misunderstand you and freak..

It's easier for me to be sarcastic online.. Not that it's hard for me to do it IRL, but it's just easier for me. A lot of people can't take my sarcasm offline. It's funny. XD.gif

I'm always sarcastic in real life. :D

As for the 'Net, I typically don't use sarcasm but, if I do, I just put [/sarcasm] after it, so people don't misunderstand me.

I've stopped being as sarcastic, but I used to be online too. I just make it 10 times more sarcastic so they understand. And if they still don't get it, then they're probably the ones who don't in real life either.

Its easier for me to be sarcastic in life. Its like, you can't really type sarcasm. Like. Righhhtttttttttttt Surrrrrrrrreeeeeee Okkkkkayyyyyyy. Its just not the same when you're saying it wink.gif

I love sarcasm, I'm very sarcastic in real life. Not so much so online though unless I'm IMing one of my friends who knows how I am and such. I have made some of my friends pretty mad though with my sarcasm. biggrin.gif

I can be extremely sarcastic, especially IRL, sometimes online. It just comes naturally, can't help it sometimes. And other times it's just fun to piss people of :D

I am ALWAYS sarcastic, no lie. Sometimes my friends don't like it because they think I'm not serious or else they take my sarcastic lines as me being serious. I'm not sarcastic on the forums, but I can be sarcastic in IMs, it's usually something people can pick-up on.

Yeah I agree. It's happenned to me a lot of times. I'll be talking with someone and say some sarcastic comment and they'll get pissed. I have to tone down my sarcasm online. In real life they can see me // hear me so they can tell I'm sarcasm but you can't really do that online.

I fully agree with you. I understand sarcasm, sometimes sarcasm is needed just for a smile or a laugh. But online, I'm sorry... but I cannot tell who's sarcastic unless they make it obvious such as, "OMFGWTFBBW, TEH aleinz w1ll ownz u!!!111oneoneone!!!11"

^ Now that's obviously sarcastic.

Now sayin something that could potentially be taken serious. Such as, "yeah to make him like you even more, while kissing, stick your hand down his pants."

That... I see no sarcasm in, unless it's one of my friends, I know my friends... I know when they're serious and when they're sarcastic.

Haha, no kidding.

But I agree with the topic starter, people online sometimes don't realize its sarcasm and get all touchy. I'm definitely more sarcastic offline, but not too, too much. I used to be a lot more a few years ago.

Sarcasm only works online with people you know fairly well, so it gets tricky. In my offline time (thanks, kryo :P), my sarcasm sucks. Like. Very rarely do I pull it off. It's sad. Very, very sad.

it's just really hard to read people online (especially if you don't know them and understand a person)... I really don't know a way to do that online without it causing problems!
