There aren't anymore good Buffy web-forums, and so I'm bumping this thread. What can I say? I need my daily fix of Buffy chit-chat! Oh I KNOW! There was a yahoo group I used to practically live in years ago. Talk here anytime you want, I never get tired of Whedon-chat. <3 i love buffy and angel. I even bought buffy colector's set. Yep, all 7 seasons, 40 discs. Ditto. I can't even tell you how many times I've watched both series. A lot is probably an understatement. Is there a way I can get all the seasons on DVD? I want them all damnit. Hmm... Conner's birth was so sad with Darla sacrificing herself. And to think she didn't have a soul but had so much love to do it for her unborn child. Ah man, that was almost as wrenching as Doyle dying. I HATED that moment. My most tearful experience is Wes dying. OMG. :*( |

Oh how can I forget about Doyle?!? Stupid me. That episode was called hero, right? Yeah, that was one of my favorites too especially when Angel and Cordelia watched the video again at the end. Bittersweet.
Personally I thought the Angel took an unexpected turn when he became CEO or president? of Wolfram & Hart. From the whole underground knight to being in charge of the enemies. What do you think? |

Bittersweet. Personally I thought the Angel took an unexpected turn when he became CEO or president? of Wolfram & Hart. From the whole underground knight to being in charge of the enemies. What do you think? Yep, that was "Hero." I was really sad when the actor that played Doyle in real life died. I had always thought that he might cameo at one point later in the series. That whole Wolfram & Hart arc caused quite a stir back then. Many just didn't understand where they were going with that. I'll confess that when I was watching that season for the first time, I was a bit put off as well. The second time I watched that season things seemed to click a bit more. I think I was more relaxed because Angel the Series was over and done with. During the time of the final season, everyone was stressing out because we all wanted it to remain on the WB lineup. That and Firefly was cancelled so it was a real upset not to have any Whedon shows on the air. I still think his presence is sorely missed in television. There are few shows that are so rich in storytelling and mythology. Heroes is getting there, but that is the closest one. |

When I used to RP in the UPN Buffy chat, I was Fred and I had a thing with Doyle (incongruent, I know)...

So, I just finished Buffy, and I'm just starting Angel. Also, I'm starting to read the season eight comic.
Love me some Buffyverse; let's get the nerds working their muscles again or something like that. |

I never got into Angel, probably because I can't stand David BoringswitchtheTVoffquick, but I have all the Buffy series up to series...five or six and I work my way through them periodically.
Go Team Buff. Favorite character? Who doesn't love Xander? |

I remember I used to have to sneak to watch Buffy because my ma was so against it. That used to the show.
I never really got into Angel though. It's probably because I didn't really like him when he was on Buffy. |

Don't feel alone about Angel, the character. I know many people who do not like him. Personally, I love Angel. I love Spike as well. It doesn't have to be an either or. Not that you were saying that, but for some reason people can be like that with regards to those two characters. Both are fantastic for very different reasons. I always thought it was funny that Spike was given a soul towards the end, because it fueled the already competitive nature of their relationship.
What makes a show like Buffy (or pretty much anything Joss Whedon is involved with) so great is that you are taken to a place that is otherwordly, with otherwordly characters but it feels incredibly real and resonant. One of the last scenes in "Once More With Feeling", Buffy sings "Something to Sing About." I feel emotionally charged when I watch that because I've been in stages where friends/family make decisions on my behalf for the better good, so-to-speak but really, it was the worse thing they could have done. And of course, you're supposed to be happy about these things because, after all, it was done for the better good. That's just an example. That scene actually touches upon more than that sentiment on a personal level. Damn, I need to put that episode on like RIGHT NOW. |

Favorite character? Who doesn't love Xander? Xander, Anya, Spike, and Giles. Buffy is alright. When Anya and Spike cries, it hurts me. When Xander loses her eye, I think he's a huge badass. And, Xander is really rad in the Season Eight comics. How do you like Angel so far? I'm actually really enjoying Angel so far - he's so much better not hanging onto Buffy. Doyle is fantastic. And, I'm really enjoying Cordellia again (she use to be one of my favorites, back in Buffy). The show is really funny, which is good. But, the action is starting to really upset me - it's all shot in this hyper sort of manner. And, the "city" cuts are so irritating. I just want to get further in so that the rhythm of the show is more established and character development becomes a larger priority. But, as of now, despite my skepticisms, I'm enjoying it. |

^ Good (on the enjoyment front).
The jerky camera action mellows out, if that helps at all. I hated it. How are you liking Doyle? (Sorry, I'm getting nostalgic). |

How are you liking Doyle? (Sorry, I'm getting nostalgic). I get the feeling Joss was that guy who could never get the girl when he was in high school. It's a character dynamic that I really enjoy though, actually. And, Doyle and Cordellia are ansolutely perfect. Probably not as great as Xander and... well, anyone. But, Doyle is really rad. His accent is glorificus. He's a good looking dude. He's funny as hell. And, I can see that he has the potential to become a complex and increasingly interesting character - frankly, I'm quite excited at that prospect. |

Every time I watch him on TV now, I flash back to seeing his real live face a foot away from mine.
And...whoever said that Wes's death was the worst, I am going to disagree. Fred's was like OMG GUSH TEARS NOW. I also cried a lot when Anya + Spike died but that was probably just because it was the end... |

Wes death, that would be me Sammi. Fred has always been a part of my personality as well, all the way down to "tacos." I'm a bit of a cross between her and Willow (I've even been told as much by friends). I think it's because I've also seen the "softer side of Sears." Aww, makes you nostalgic for snarky Cordy, doesn't it?
Joss totally pours himself into certain characters. He is very much Xander and Doyle, both of whom are the most endearing characters, in my opinion. Double LOL@glorificus |

Oh, hot damn - how could I have overlooked James Marsters? I'm a bad girl.
And everyone - and I mean everyone - loves English Giles. Oh, and Dru. Always a giggle. Pretty much defines my favorites: ![]() |
