You could plug your nose and ears then swallow 20 times as fast as possible or swallowing a teaspoon of dry sugar.

I usually just drink water and hold breath - no, not at the same time. But yeah. That works...or if I busy myself, they seem to disappear eventually.

I hold my breath, usually. Sometimes I try to get a family member to scare me, but that one NEVER works because then I know it's coming. ![]() |

^ I don't know if there is a way to avoid getting them.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...10023847AAOabwI Eat/drink slower? idk. Anyways, I usually drink 9 sips of water, then a big gulp of water and hold my breath for 20 seconds. That helps. Also, a spoon full of sugar helps. |

I hold my breathe for as long as I can.
Then drink a lot of water. My dad says to drink water upside down. ![]() Or, I just forget about them, and occupy myself. If I'm too busy with something else I usually forget they're even there and they go away. |

Hiccups are pretty much an irregular breathing pattern, so the breathing slowly helps to regulate your breathing to get it back on track. Being scared scares your whole body and gets your heart pumping fast and you breathing faster which is another change in your breathing pattern from the abnormality. Also the peanut butter sticking inside your throat for a bit I guess could constrict some air flow changing it? Nvr tried peanut butter but sounds interesting.

pucker your lips out a little and press them together with your fingers. hard. As weird as it sounds it helps for me sometimes.
So does drinking water or holding your breath. |

I always hold my breath for 20 seconds, or drink 20 gulps of water in a row.

Plug your nose and ears (at the same time) and get a glass of water and a straw. Drink as much water through the straw as possible.
Always works for me ![]() |

i always amaze my friends with this because..IT ALWAYS WORKS! WAHAHAH! anyways my dad taught it to me. so basically you start asking yourself questions that force you to really concentrate like:
how many chairs do you have in your house? how many lights do you have in your house? ..usually i ask those types of questions because the people have to actually picture their house, go through each of the rooms and count items..after a couple of questions..their hiccups will be gone. i swear =D |

They're usually caused when you don't take in enough air. So take in some deep breaths and it will be gone shortly.
