graduation is coming up, and I need to buy a gift for my friend.
she's really into art, and is going to RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). I am completely lost when it comes to art, so I would greatly appreciate it if you guys have any ideas as to what would be a good gift for her!  maybe some pointers on some good quality things that artists would use. (Pencils 4b, 2b, or hb?, pens, sketchbooks, what brand?, etc.) and it would be really great if any of you have a creative way to wrap the gift or something. thanks! |

Anything by Prismacolor. But it's all very, very expensive.
Or maybe a sketchbook with a cover you decorate yourself? That would be very thoughtful. If someone bought me, like, a 100+ set of Prismamarkers or pastels, I would orgasm into my pants. You should probably check what kind of art she is going to before you plan on purchasing anything. The most versatile gift would be a sketchbook... |

What I have recieved as gifts are "starter" kits such as Watercolor Pencil sets and Pastels. I really loved them because it came with technique books to jumpstart my experience. If there is a certain type of media she would like to get into, I really suggest these kind of kits! (Can usually be found in large book stores, and art stores) Sketchbooks and pencils are nice, but it's more like buying "school" supplies for her.

wait until she gets her supply list. then buy whatever's on there. a lot of professors tend to be picky on what their students use in their classes. so those could be pretty expensive. thus, you buying something from the list for her would help her out greatly ;x
also depends on what her focus is in... illustration, architecture, w/e. if she's a painter, get her a huge good quality canvas haha. |

Meduim weight with a slight grain.
If you are willing to spend a little bit of money, get prismacolor colored pencils. |
