It really depends on what type of dress you're looking for and what label. Personally, I'm not going to spent 300 just on a dress for one night. But if you're willing, there are some really nice ones with that price range. I've never had prom since I'm not even in high school yet, so..

I never went to prom. Prom isn't a huge deal at my school, but I know some girls who spent well over $1,000 on the night and one girl I know for sure spent around $2,000. My teacher said that was more than she spent on her wedding, haha.

I've never had prom since I'm not even in high school yet, so.. agreed. i'd NEVER spend $300 dollars on a dress that i'll only wear once. i got my homecoming dress on supersupersupersupersuper sale. it was $150. on sale for $100. on sale for $64. on sale for $40. on sale for $5.99. so my dress was only &6.00. |

I think Michelle found an awesome dress for like 80, or maybe it was more, I dno. Then I think she paid like 70 for her shoes, borrowed some jewelery, or used some she already had. But man, the guy's got the expensive end of the stick on prom.
Tickets 60 x 2 = 120 Limo was like 250 for us two Dinner was around 60 Tux rental was around 100 Pictures @ prom were like 50 Corsage was like 12 If only I had a mastercard so I could have had a priceless moment! Oh wait I did, her dancing w/ me but standing on my shoes so she din have to do nething. |

big poofy prom dresses are beyond stupid.
it's always hot when you dance so why bake inside those? they are like tacky wedding dresses since you only wear them once and then there's really no other place to wear a sequenced glittery mess. 20 or 40 bucks all together. my senior prom i got him to pay for the tickets |

I spent over £500 on my prom night... (that's about $1028).
Which is, frankly, quite obscene. |

I don't get these dress-up games where girls go all out and spend so much money on one single day that won't affect them later in life. I completely bailed out on prom because I couldn't be bothered to do my hair. I don't regret it to this day.

But its a thing most people like to do, its not my thing hence why I plan on skipping my prom but a lot of people enjoy it. So I help.. my friend paid about $350 on her dress, shoes, etc last year. |

So I help.. my friend paid about $350 on her dress, shoes, etc last year. Yeah, a lot of girls are into this type of stuff. I'm not discounting it or regarding the girls as "naive" for wanting to dress up. It's just the whole notion of paying so much money to dance with a guy that sounds a bit ridiculous to me. I'm not exactly a "celebrator," so I don't see the appeal in congratulating myself by being a consumer-driven person on prom, senior anything, and weddings. Everything has become more secular and materialistic now, I think. When I go to proms or weddings, it's less spiritually fulfilling than it is materialistic. If that makes sense. |

i think the most i've ever spent for clothing/accessories for a special event was maybe $30. my wedding stuff doesn't count because it wasn't my wedding right? and i mean bridesmaid, flowergirl, that stuff, not as in a guest.
everything i usually take old stuff and renovate or borrow :) aand tickets for dances and homecoming and stuff, i've never paid :P |

hmmm....about:
$150 for the dress (it was on sale from a higher price) $25 for tickets $18 for pictures (both of our moms wanted pictures, lol) $6 for corsage $25 for shoes, but they were originally bought with graduation in mind, and they've been worn several times since then $10 for jewelry $25 for hair (including tip) Did my own makeup, and he picked me up, and paid for dinner. Sooooo...around $260 all around. There were a couple of girls with incredibly expensive dresses, but personally I liked my Elder Beerman dress just as well, haha ![]() Still a lot of money though ![]() |

I completely bailed out on prom because I couldn't be bothered to do my hair. I don't regret it to this day. It's more of a ritualistic thing than a 'game'. My boyfriend asked me - it was the very last year of Sixth Form (college) so the average age was 18 (which means here in the UK we could all get legally out-of-our-minds on alcohol) - and it was special insofar as it was our first formal date where I could really dress up for him ![]() I'd never bothered with the earlier proms, but this one marked the last time all us students would be together before heading off separately to work or university. It was kinda sad, but well worth putting in one last appearance. |
