wanted to get a general overview of what children are learning in school as far as sex ed is concerned. check what you learned in school against the following facts to kind of see how accurate your teaching was.

1- HPV can cause cervical cancer and can be prevented by a vaccine
2- condoms will reduce the rate to transmission of most STDs.
3- birth control pills and pills such as the morning after pill do not protect any against STDs, but will help protect against pregnancy.
4- the first time a female has sex/ uses a large tampon, her hymen will break which will cause bleeding.

I can truthfully say I was very satisfied with my Sex Ed. The only thing lacking were the actual demonstrations. wink.gif

Welllll I'd say it was between basic and advanced, the facts were pretty well factual and there was little talk of contraception, basically if you decide to do it, don't be in idiot about it. We even got those stupid baby things that cry and whatnot. Ohhh and we were forced to sign abstinence cards. PS, this was 6-8th and in Arizona.

I got it all. From Abstinence-Advanced. The abstinence came in 6th grade, when I was still at a Christian school. And the Basic/Advanced came when I was a freshman in highschool...I think. And the states don't apply to me since I went to an international school.

I got pretty intense sex ed. My instructor even brought in douches and condoms, and probably other things, but those were the most memorable. She did the cliche "condom on a banana" thing. I got this in seventh grade, although I also got a less intense version in sixth grade.

New York State encouraged condom use and talked about other means of contraception. Back when I was a lot more liberal, I laughed at my health teacher when she said that condoms aren't perfect and that abstinence is the only way to prevent STDs and having babies. I was so stupid back then.

No need to compliment on my infinite wisdom; I'm already fully aware.

I don't know what language they speak over there in England, but over here, we try to use proper English. Meaning, we try to use present tense when speaking, you know, in the present tense.

I didn't have sex-ed. I was supposed to last year in 7th grade, but my teacher chickened out and taught us about plants. I'm guessing I'll be learning in 10th grade? I don't know what type of state California is. shrug.gif

None whatsoever... yet. Woah, that's pretty sad, me being almost 18. XD.gif
I've been at a private Christian school since 6th grade, so that's probably why. I'll be in public school this year for my senior year, so I'll have to take it.

I was taught basic sex ed in grade 5, a bit more detailed (with condoms) in grade 6, and advanced sex ed just recently, like putting on a condom on a fake penis and looking at other types of contraceptives. Sort of fun actually.

. . . . Stupid, stupid multiple health classes.

Somewhat accurate: I had sex ed in 5th grade.
More accurate: They taught us what condoms and contraceptives were, but neglected to tell us what we were protecting ourselves from.

Somewhat accurate: I had sex ed in 7th grade.
More accurate: We learned all sorts of neat things (and ways) about how to produce a baby, but not what you actually had to do.

Somewhat accurate: I had sex ed twice in ninth grade.
More accurate: A teacher finally had the guts to tell us exactly what you do to produce a baby. And it was finally the whole package. As if that weren't enough, they had a lady come in and give a talk to every girl taking P.E., which I kinda though was overkill. Hey, we got free tampons.

All of this was lost on me, though, because I've been reading slash for about as long as they've been trying to teach me what sex was. Oops?

As awkward as it sounds, my mom taught me about sex in detail.

In grade 7 we learned the basics, in grade 10 we learned a bit more, and in grade 12 we learned all the specifics on contraceptives and whatnot.
