How exactly DO you cut yourself with an eraser? I cut my erasers sometimes.. makes little eraser bits. Haha

If you rub anything on the skin fast and long enough, you'll break the skin. Same concept as carpet burn, really. Same thing that happens if you scratch too much. It just happens faster with an eraser.

It's not a cut, it's more like an open sore.

Yeah, so you aren't really cutting yourself, you're just opening the skin by rubbing it until it breaks. >.<

XD.gif Is eraser burn like rug burn? You know when someone falls down on carpet and gets a red mark on the side of their face from the floor?

Oww eraser burns.

You should buy them some rubber bands. I think using erasers could give you infections.

but i assume if blood came out, its the same as cutting.

It's still self mutilation. And that's bad. Tell them to write if they feel bad. That ALWAYS works for me.

not the equivalent, but still the same idea. stop i dont know how, im morely one who can tell you how to cut. but if you truely dont want them to then stop them now before it continues and increase to cutting.

My best guy friend started that last year because he was depressed about this girl. Then he got his other friends to start doing it, too because they wanted to see "how far they could go". They ended up getting trouble because they got caught.

My guy friend now has a huge scar on his handds that will take forever to go away. He's scarred for life. mellow.gif IMO, it wasn't worth it. pinch.gif And yes, I think it's equally as dangerous/hurtful as cutting. Well, maybe not..but..it's still self-mutalation. mellow.gif

And to everyone saying it's "immature" it really is. They were in 7th grade. We're in 8th now.

It looked like it HURT.

I've never heard of eraser cutting before...
mellow.gif I think it's wrong, if your friends are hurting themselves. Try to tell them it hurts you when they do that to themselves.

I used to be a cutter and I used to scratch myself with my nails until I bled. It wasn't for attention, because I'd carefully mask the scars I made with bracelts and long sleeves and whatnot...i was actually ASHAMED of doing it and didn't want anyone to see. I have clinical depression, which I'll have for the rest of my life, and the reason I did it was because emotions/depression come on so strong its like this uncontrollable force. I TRIED constructive ways of releasing all that pent up anger, agression, and sadness but NOTHING worked...thats how strong it was. It was like, such sickness and violence I was feeling I had to release it in an equally sick and violent way...and I really hated myself, truly and deeply, and it seemed a good way to "punish" myself and release all that pent-up negative energy.
And it worked...it felt amazing. It was like a rush. I would start scratching at time without even realizing it...it was an impulse, an addiction.
Finally, I attempted suicide and got put in a mental hospital where they discovered all my scars and a couple fresh wounds. It was there that I was forced to stop.
A lot of kids there just cut for attention...which kind of makes me angry. No, I don't justify myself doing it because it WAS unhealthy, but they didn't seem to understand the deep pain that really led me to cutting/scratching. They knew it was bad and that it would get them noticed, and quite honestly it pisses me off. They don't know that level of pain so why are they pretending they do? Its a place I wouldn't wish ANYONE to go to. I'm still ashamed that I ever did it, and it took me 2 years to completely stop. During those years, I grew up and learned to accept myself and learned WHY exactly it was unhealthy and that no matter how pent up your emotions can get theres ALWAYS alternative ways to express those feelings.
However, while you ARE cutting...its nearly impossible to realize that it is wrong. Because it feels good. At the same time, I knew it was wrong and thats why I tried to hide it. I'm still pretty ashamed that I did it and I don't like to talk about it...but I saw this thread and I decided to give you guys a first-hand perspective. It sounds like those kids are doing for attention...and they do need to stop. Perhaps they'll grow out of it or stop it...but if they don't get them to a counselor. 'cus wanting attention that bad is a problem within itself.

That sounds so stupid; I consider it 'cutting'. Must have hurt a lot! Wouldn`t the eraser shavings get into your blood stream etc etc.. UGH.
