When someone says you're photogenic, how do you take it? Do you get offended and think that they're calling you ugly in person or do you take it as a compliment?

QUOTE
A person described as being photogenic may not necessarily be particularly attractive in real life. Often, a person who appears attractive in real life may look less attractive in photographs.

So true! I've known beautiful people who suddenly smile all awkward and make some weird face with a camera in front of them, and the picture turns out horribly.

A very slow, question like "Thanks....?" response usually suffices for me.

Do you just randomly sit in class and think, " Hm...I wonder what kind of thread I can post on CB.COM today! "

Because they're absolutely pointless, stupid, one word answer threads.

How could that not be taken as a compliment? I don't know, I don't handle comments very well. I usually brush them off like, "Wtf are you talking about? Pfff." I feel like if I were to say something like, "Aww, thanks!" I'd seem conceited... but if I were to compliment them back, I'd seem like an ass kisser. I usually do give them a compliment back, though.

Maybe I'm just really wierd like that.

Most of the pictures I have are of me doing something track & field related. And track is not the cutest sport. _smile.gif
^HAHA, totally agree with you there. All the pictures I've seen taken of me during track are uggggly... my facial expressions tend to be quite pained in all of them. stubborn.gif

I usually say thanks to whoever complimented me, but I'll be thinking in my mind... "I'm not photogenic at all... what the heck?"

Yea I'd probably say thanks but I wouldn't believe it. Although, oftentimes I look different in pictures, so I understand why some people might take it to offense.

Depends on the tone of voice, but generally I take it as a compliment. *shrug* I just smile and say thanks or something like that.

that's odd. this is the second time recently the issue of whether or not photogenic is an insult...

photogenic doesn't mean you're pretty in pictures but ugly IRL. it just means you translate well onto film. the beauty pagnents have the miss photogenic award. it's given to the girl who takes the best pictures. i know some really pretty girls who take...really...bad pictures.

edit: lol. out of curiousity.

haha that quote kind of makes me feel better?
