QUOTE(I Viddy Horrorshow @ Apr 18 2007, 12:28 PM) *
I would like to point out that one of the most common (the fact that it is idiotic not withstanding) arguments IN FAVOUR of guns is 'security', and that the 2nd ammendment was originally established to promote security from British people trying to take back their colonies.

Furthermore, I would like to ask, if it is a question of over simplifying things to establish what people 'deserve', does the person who would NOT give up a little 'liberty' deserve to be shot?

So who deserves to get guns and who doesn't?

Or would you rather just not have guns at all?

Your point? People keep bitching about "OMG PATRIOT ACT GOVERNMENT TYRANNY." A well armed populace gives the government some pause before deciding that they can do whatever they want.

That's what Hitler said. Oh yeah, I went there.

I'll just go ahead and think of another way to kill someone.

Or maybe I'll just make pipebombs to go kill people like Eric Harris and Kyle Keblod in Columbine.

Gun control isn't going to stop violence.

You have an American source?

Guns are pretty much outlawed in Britain, so there aren't many guns to defend yourself with anyway. So really, the only people who have guns are the criminals.

And I love how after gun control tightened, crime went up. Didn't stabbings go up to?

Fact: If people want to kill, they will find a way to kill.

Guns are not the problem, the people who want to murder are.

QUOTE(I Viddy Horrorshow @ Apr 18 2007, 12:28 PM) *
I don't think you have to be a toothless, red-neck hick to have a fetish for guns, but OK. And I'm basing that on my own opinion, yes. Although I reject the idea that it is biased.

I didn't say they were 'evil', I said they were dangerous. And I said they were disgusting, which is my opinion. I find them, and the ownership thereof, to be distasteful

I think people who are trained and licensed ought to be able to carry guns. I just think that process ought to be a hell of a lot more exclusive.

Alcohol is dangerous. Do you find that distasteful?

^ I should have specified that it was in fact in reference to American gun-crime.

And no, I don't find alcohol distasteful, because the primary danger is to the individual doing the drinking.

And I suppose the fact that the people who murder use guns to murder is not relevant at all?

Prove it.

Tell that to the families of the millions of people that die in drunk driving accidents, especially when the drunk driver is the one that ends up surviving in a lot of cases.

QUOTE

That doesn't make the guns themselves bad. It makes the people who use them bad.

You do realize I could get into my car and crash into another person while I'm drunk, right?

The sad thing is, I'd probably survive and they wouldn't.

I think we scared the British away!

It's always easier to find a scapegoat than to, you know, actually solve the problem.

Hours after the shooting, Jack Thompson came on TV and started blaming videogames. Based on what? Because he's Asian, he must have played violent videogames?

Fix the actual problem, don't look for other things to blame. If someone slips on your floor because your roof is leaking, you can't just wipe the floor and say problem solved.

Tightening gun control won't solve anything. If illiterate drug dealers can find a way get their hands on better guns than educated and upstanding citizens now, how are you going to make it more exclusive?

You're right... you scared me away. Nothing to do with the fact that you were less interesting than the load of laundry that needed hanging up...

In any case, frankly, I neither value nor particularly desire either of your opinions, so whatever. I think you're both wrong, but OK.

You still lack the proof and the evidence to back up your "facts."

It's all the same with British people.

But I will admit that I was wrong on that part. Sorry for calling you a girl.

Actually, 32 people were killed, and like 27 were injured. It's been on the news everywhere. A lot of people jumped out of a two story window to avoid being shot. I would have done the same thing. A broke leg is better than death.

Those poor people at that school. That's terrible. I can't believe that there are psychos out there that would actually do things like that. So, has anyone heard if it was an act of terrorism or not? Last I heard, they were looking into it.

32 + himself = 33. They counted him which is why they say 33 people.

naive much? Besides there have been similar shootings that happened (obviously not as much people were killed). And I doubt it was from terrorism. You say that just because he's Korean right? Dayum SOMEONE CALL KANGSTA.
