So my boyfriend and I went out to dinner. We had a really great time together,That was until we got home and we found my cat unconscious. So we rushed him to a animal hospital and I get the news that my cat is suffering from kidney faliure,And that are only opption is to put him down.

He has a week or 2 to live or I have the option of taking him tommrow so he can go into a peaceful sleep and rest in peace without anymore suffering.

What do you do?,How do you prepare to tell your best friend goodbye forever?

So my question to you is...
Who in your life do you take for granted? And what would you do if god forbid the day you find out that that person or pet has 2 weeks to live or you could have them put out of their misery and suffering and let them jsut go into a deep sleep that they could never wake up from? What whould you chose?

Ah, okay. From the sounds of it I thought that your cat's kidneys started failing because he was old or something. But never mind.

Aww thanks you guys.

Dialysis on cats has a 79 percent sucess rate but since they have yet to do organ transplants on animals this will have to be done weekly along with medication for the rest of his life.

My vet told me she found the source of what caused this.
I dont know if anyone has heard of the recent pet food recall in america and canada but there was something in there that poisoned a bunch of cats and dogs in many labels of dog and cat food.

I Import cat food because when i moved over to ireland they didnt have the same brand of cat food here and i didnt want to switch him.I regert that decision now.

for more info to any pet owners out there.

My dog had that! He ate the Purina dog food and it made him vomit blood, and the vet said it was the wheat gluten in the food. Fortunately for me, it didn't affect the dogs as much as it did cats.

I'm sorry for you and your cat. sad.gif I hope the treatments work.

I'm really sorry Diana. sad.gif
I know how you feel. My Siamese cat died a few months ago. He was really old and had been around with my family for such a long time. My mom was closest to him, so I never realized how much I actually did care about him until he died. He had kidney, heart, and liver problems.

I'll pray for him!

Ugh, Menu Foods.
They tested dogs and cats to figure out that their food was poisoned after people started wondering what was going on with their animals... and when those dogs and cats died, they kept deliberately distributing it.

PETA has gone nuts over it. As have I.
