So while doing my personal statement, I basically had to spill out my sob story, and it reminded me of very recent conversation I had with a couple of friends.
It was about our hardships, and how we've used it to grow and, admittedly, on college resumes and the such, and we came to the conclusion that we would rather of had the hardship not happen at all, have an easy life, and go to a community college than get into a prestigious university because of something that was out of our control. |

Hmmm, ironically me and my friend Hollie had a conversation about something similar to this tonight.
I truly believe that its a good thing to go through hard times. Living an easy life is not really living. Feeling the pain and the hurt and the dissapointment not only teaches us lessons and makes us wiser but its also an experience. Its something to be proud of...something that you personally conquered. Also, if you think about it...if you hadnt gone through hard times...then you would never be able to relate to anybody who has...you now have the oppurtunity to reach out to someone who is going through what you went through. See what I mean? |

I do, but it really depends what the severity of the hardship is. Yeah, sometimes it makes you more relatable, but what the hardship is so bad you feel alone? And what if it's so bad that you didn't conquer it? Or perhaps, not to the extent that at others have.

hmmm, well in this case for instance. I can relate to how you are feeling because I have felt THAT exact thing before. You feel like a part of you has just been damaged...and you feel alone and hurt. I dont exactly know about your situation or what you are talking about...
I can tell you this, You may not have conquered the problem yet...but dont give up...you will conquer it! I promise! No matter how bad it is...no matter how hard it hurts...no matter how long its been...I'm talking years and years...you will conquer it. You are probably wondering how I can be so sure...but I am. I am really positive that you can conquer any problem life throws at you. Alone even. I did it. So, just know that its possible. |

See, that's the thing about "hardest point of life" - it's a do or die. Either someone gets past that moment and gets better, and things get even more downhill.
