Edit: the following message is a result of frustration, anger, and almost insanity that occured last night. I am not going to cross it out nor am i going to edit it, because I feel like maybe what I said could possibly be helpful in the future. What I'm trying to say out of all that is below, is pretty much that cB is changing evryday little by little, it worries me and although we cant prevent change entirely, we can still monitor and watch the site like mature people. The favt is that we all love cB other wise we wouldnt be on here, but at the same time we have all signed off of cB and go "jeeze he was a pain in the a$$" or "dang, i just got told off" and its not a very good feeling. Now I understand the real world occurs, and life is rough, but if you could just take a deep breath and try your hardest to view it this way, maybe youll notice where im coming from and why I am so worried about this amazing site I've known for about a year and a half sad.gif

Please dont take the following as me sayng i hate you all, or that i think you guys dont deserve yor jobs, and thats its all the mods fault because in reality im just so frustrated and mods are a good point to bring out. so please read and try to understand

Honestly, I am so fed up and agrivated with the site right now it's not even funny. Today I was thinking, and it occurred to me that simple innocent people come onto this site looking for advice, and guidance and everyone on the site just totally shuts them down. For example, the other day I was reading about a young boy (either 11 or 12) who found out how to "pleasure himself" and he asked a simple question about his body. Of course everyone on the site jumped on him and began to tease him since he was only 12. Well to be quite honest with you this is the shittiest thing ever. mad.gif We all have our questions, and he needed an answer, all we did was tease him and he is probably still questioning if his body is okay. And dont anyone dare even to say that he can ask someone in real life, because I'm guessing its not something you would not want to bring up with someone you know. Another instance takes place in most of the threads here on cB. Everyday members on the site continue to give their opinions and teasing bullshit instead of actually giving input. I am tired of this, and their opinions. If someone asks a serious question like "My perents are divorcing what do i do" and people respond to things like "its spelled PARENTS" or "pussy, suck it up youll still see them" mellow.gif ANOTHER occurence is that people are being so uptight with reposting rules. Someone recently merged my topic into a topic that was created in 2004, and i made it like 2 weeks ago. Reposts are bound to happen, and merging and closings are getting out of hand. With all this being said more to come, I have YET to see any mod action. ANYTHING! And dont give me that f**king bullshit about how those people "give flavor and personality to the site" and "thats what makes cB unique" and "we cant prevent it" becaus epeople are getting hurt, and you can prevent it. Work pays off and you NEED to make this happen because people are getting pissed, mods are quitting and its luring the wrong people to the site. Holly Infinite i sthinking about quitting, Uronacid is GONE, and to be honest with you I am so close to quitting myself because I am TIRED of everyone doing nothing. If you have power use it for the good of the site, not to say you have it, not because you dont want to get into things, and certainly not because you like to have control. You have a job for a reason, and you need to use it. DOnt give me that shit about how "its tougher than it looks" because honestly i dont care how tough it is.. if you want to have that responsibility you have to be tough. For god sake, do you f**king jobs!!! verymad.gif

I hate to use the cliche remark of "it's just the internet". Honestly, if you don't like it here you aren't obligated to be here. I'd hate to see you leave because you aren't content with the way that the site is run. If a 12 year old wants to post a topic asking about his (or her) body that's their prerogative. This is an open forum so you have to take what people say with a grain of salt and expect diverse remarks from people. That's not my department, though. There's other resources of information, which are probably more accurate and dependable than a forum.
If there's a reply that you don't think is respectable, or that needs to be dealt with you can report that post. Just because it's a mod's job to keep things in line doesn't mean they can read every single reply.

This site has so much potential and thats what keeps me obligated, the fact that this could be the BEST site out there if only we worked harder

Calm down. mellow.gif

You CAN'T do anything about people making posts like that. Come on, that's like saying you want to make everyone love each other and create world peace.

.. Plus everything Suzzette just said.

CB is nothing more than a place for public discussion, and if you walk into any place of public discussion and ask a question regarding masturbation (to borrow your example) or anything else of a private nature, you better be prepared to get mocked (or worse). That's just the nature of people, and that's why most people discuss private matters with friends or family—i.e., people they trust.

So basically, welcome to the real world. If you have a private matter to discuss, talk about it in private with people you know and trust. Maybe that's not the way it should be, but good luck changing it.

What is CB good for? Discussing non-personal matters. Giving and receiving useful information. Building trusted relationships with people with whom you can safely discuss private matters. But here's a good general rule of thumb: don't air your dirty laundry in public.

You kind of contradicted yourself there, buddy. wink.gif

1. Please don't generalize. It makes it look as though you don't know what you're talking about. I believe you're referring to certain examples, no? wink.gif

2. Regarding the boy being "shut down", in which thread did this happen? I'll admit that I don't like reading such things if we want to create an open environment on CB. And yes, he can talk to someone in real life who he knows personally and can trust and confide in. It may be tough to get over fear of embarrassment but it beats being ridiculed by strangers (if that's what happened).

3. If you're angry with people not really giving input, well, nothing much can be done... As long as the overall guidelines to posting (community guidelines/forum rules) are followed, who is anyone to control another's words? You can discourage members from posting annoying/rude comments byt asking them not to...but will everyone care? It's not that easy to change someone's mentality.

3. If the thread was made in 2004, it's all right to leave it open. Have you at least talked to the mod who did it?

4. Mod action regarding what? Everything you've mentioned, I presume?

5. Which mods are quitting as a result of all this?

6. If people are getting pissed, why aren't they saying what's bothering them?

7. You can't prevent people from getting hurt. How would that be done? If I call you an a-hole, you can be offended or you can shrug it off. Depends on what you consider a hurtful comment.

Sorry, but there are some things you've written that I don't understand.

I think your argument would be better taken if you had calmed yourself first. _smile.gif

The 12 year-old shouldn't actually be here anyway, so really, I'm inclined to label this incident as his problem for walking into the Lions' Den.

And in general, I'm with everyone else on this. You want some little paradise style place where everyone is all buttercups and peppermints? Well, cB may not be for you. Sorry.

As previously stated, everyone is going to have more or less differing opinions on any given subject. Some people just won't take some of those more "serious" topics because they probably really couldn't care less. And hey, on the flip side there are those benevolent peoples who will take the time to analyze the problem and give a respectful answer. In reality though, a person is never obligated to do either.

I would pretty much agree with everything Michael had said. Just because this is the "Internet," you're still communicating with real, living, breathing people. The difference is that the Internet makes communication much more impersonal. You can only do so much with microphones and web cams.

this is a forum, with real people. some people are rude, while some are...sensitive. while we can manage the forums by setting limits for member bashing, we cannot predict or prevent everything that comes out of members'..mouths. If you can't deal with that, then you don't have to stay.

I think they are using a conditional clause, not straightforward telling you to leave.

Sure, they won't tell you to leave/unregister/step down from your position outright, but they sure as hell do a good job making you want to do those things.

Precisely. It's never "Man get the hell out already" but "Why don't you just leave if you dislike this place so much?". It's a matter of style, although the final effects pretty much are the same.

But the goal of the game is to be strong.take the hate and what ever someone might throw at you and overcome it.There have been so many times when i have wanted to leave because some one told me if i dont like it here i can leave. And I could.but what would be the fun in that by letting some a-hole tell me how to run my internet.

Its the same thing with members who leave here because they either couldent handle the constant atacks from other members or because they just grew out of this place.that or they felt presured to leave.I guess you could say that they couldent take the heat.

I dont know if this makes any sense im just writing thoughts about it down.
