Are usernames a big deal to you? For example, would someone with the username "QTwitAB00tiE" win your respect more than someone with the username, "Facilitated Love"? Do you include usernames when it comes to judging someone online?

even though i'd like to say i don't, I do judge people by their usernames. I can't help but think that X0X0_bAbYkIsSes is immature.

What can I say, if you're just some random person about to IM me, you'd probably better off if your screen name is something like "Audio Fidelity" rather than "Litoxbabbixgirl92."

Okay what I'm about to say sounds completely selective, and rude, so please forgive me for being honest.

On a normal basis I find myself judging people by their avatars and usernames sad.gif Don't get me wrong, I wont hate anyone because their screen name is "6h3tto.b00ti" but I would much rather talk to someone with a clean icon and a name like "toycars" happy.gif lol im so weird

Doesn't really bother me. Unless if it's majorly misspelled. If they replace letters with numbers and such, it doesn't bother me, but some things seem really immature.

They're not a huge deal, but I do judge people by them to a certain extent. Generally people with those kinds of usernames tend to not be able to type/spell properly and aren't extremely intelligent. There are some exceptions, of course, but that's what I've found most of the time. Plus it's kind of annoying to read.

Usually when people have "nooby" sn's I assume they're going to be very... noobish of course. Like, typing with numbers and lots of grammar errors on purpose. But then again there are some people who keep their sns for forever, and they've matured.

ehh sort of. Like if i'm on aim and this random person i/ms me with the screenname "sp4zJu1ce 411" then i would go like "oh this kid is probably like 11 years old". and i'm usually right.

hm yeah, someone with a regular screenname would definitely "win my respect" more than someone with a screenname such as GhEtT0MaMii94.

I'll admit I do judge, sometimes. If it's typed in such an annoying way, it's most likely they type regularly like that too, which bothers the heck out of me. But if it actually means something interesting, maybe I'll check it out and see what they're like and who they are.

But yes, most of the time they turn out to be little annoying children who are like 10.

wow... i read that without problems.. wth o_O lol. (sorry i play games a lot, use quite a few acronyms) i dont pay too much attn to sns, unless they look like someone just banged on the keyboard to make it, then ill just ignore whoever the heck that is. most people i know have changed their sn from when they were younger to something without "l33t writing" lol. for the most part, i dunt judge until i talked to the person some.

Heh, well I personally don't see what's so wrong about judging people for their usernames. These people consciously created them; it's not like they didn't have any power over it.

If you come from a gamer background, that's understandable. You've got to type and communicate on the fly while you're busting some head shots and triple kills. But I mean, if you're doing it just because you think it's "trendy," well, I guess ya can't blame the immigrants for not being able to speak English when people think it's so popular to not be able to type in English here. thumbsup.gif

i really don't "judge" people by their usernames. i just think they can't type like a normal person if their username is like "@zNbAbii486464646" pinch.gif

It really depends. If their username is like "9H3TT0 4ZNx B4Bii" or something, but they type properly, then it's perfectly fine. They were probably in a state of "myspace type"-ness -ish, when they created their username.

Most likely though, if their sns are like that, then they PR0B4BLY TYiiP4 LYiiK3 DiiZ$x.

Yeah, no. That shows immaturity. ermm.gif
