Windows Vista?, are you buying it.?? Options

My upgrade from Dell FINALLY got here Monday... but I havent gotten around to installing it yet.

i have vista and it isnt compatible with alot of windows xp programs but they said something aboiut fixing this? is this true?

I've never heard that. Thats like backwards. Just like a computer with XP can use programs designed for XP and back... but a computer with windows 95' cant handle a program designed for ME or XP.

But crap I hope thats not true.

I'm deciding on if to buy it too because with my new comp im getting [hopefully] comes with vista already.And this public speaker from microsoft said that you can't really hack in games [and i love to hack in diablo and maple shh o.o ] and he said that alot of people have been complaining that the mmorg [i think thats what it is] games is not working with vista so everyone i know who had vista downgraded back to xp.So im a little confused xD but yes. . . it looks lovely o__O

Is MSN really that bad?
I've been using it for a few months now... and it seems alot better than AOL. Installing AOL on a computer is like giving a computer aids.
I still havent installed Vista yet... It's been sitting on my desk for the past month. o_o

I'd really rather not. In fact, what's frustrating me at the moment is that I'm thinking about getting a new lap top or an extra computer and many are being sold with Vista.

I honestly can't stand that there isn't a choice on some models, especially when I'm looking through ads and trying to find a good deal on something.

Plus, many of my friends and co-workers have done nothing but complain about Vista.

Those security warning can be turned off. They may be annoying, but you would be surprised with the amount of morons in the world who just keep clicking ok or continue without reading. It is for the security of idiots that do that. Also, that is completely not true about downloading music. I have Lime wire installed, it was actually the 3rd program to be installed. It runs faster on my Vista machine then it does on my XP machine. The only reason Vista is still not gaining attention is because SP1 is not out. Once it comes out, fire up the credit cards because I am pretty sure all the stores will be sold out. The exact thing happened with XP, it SUCKED when it first came out. Now it has been said to be one of the best. I am running Business on my desktop, and I have installed 2 extra gigs of ram for a total of 3 gigs. Plus a new 8800 GTX video card with DirectX 10, and all I have to say is a Mac has nothing on my Vista PC right now. The video is so amazing that I can just stare at the monitor for hours. Photoshop CS3 runs like a dream on Vista as well. It is absolutely amazing. I have been 110% satisfied with Vista and Office 2007 (Grand total for both was $850.00). I have made some pretty kick a** power points in less than five minutes with very little to no knowledge of power point. I recommend it, but for most people your PCs will need upgrades. Unless you have a nice video card and a gig of ram, don’t even attempt to run it. You will explode.

As for software compatibility, I have installed all my previous software. Only once program did not work. It was Starcraft.

LAWL! I don't think I could ever get it to work on my XP Machine either. I have a dedicated Dell Optiplex on Windows 98SE for Starcraft gamen.

Anything that is new in the PC market is designed for gamers. It is what drives the industry and has built it to what it is today. Notice how I say PC.

I know what you were saying. Most people are under the impression of other "ideas" that computers are what they have become today because of stuff they do now such as video editiing and junk. Its not true, if it was that way a Apple computer would actually be worth something.

We had a iMac my parents got a few months ago.My parents told me I could use it instead of running a Vista computer, the Mac is now no longer with us. They tried using it and then sold it on eBay, everyone in my house laughs at the sign of macs now-a-days.

My uncle also got one for photo editing, and is now running on a new Vista PC. His Mac is also gone. Once you learn Windows, like 90% of the computer users in the world, you stay.

Well Linux, Novell and other deals share that 10% as well. So I don't know the exact number for Mac OS. But I am sure its like 6% or 7%. Not bad, I guess.
