my best friend is a guy & there is this girl who is trying to get closer to him. but i don't know how much closer and it freaks me out. i don't really trust her that much. but i think i am completely making it worse because i have a really bad jealousy problem and it has almost ruined our friendship. i'm not sure if our friendship will ever be the same. has anyone else been in a situation like this? or close to it? i don't know what to do anymore, i feel like i'm not even getting a chance to do something about it.
advice would be so nice. if you have questions or need me to explain i will. thanks so much! |

I've been through something like this before. Do you like your best friend or do you just want him to not have other girl friends?
You can't really stop this girl from getting close to your best friend. If you tell him what you feel, your friendship might get ruined for real this time. He's going to be friends with whoever he wants. |

Well I'm really protective of some of my guy friends so if they express interest in a girl or something I'll talk to her about them to see if she really like them or she has some other motive.

I guess it all depends on how you feel for this guy. You might be jealous because you like him.
 That's the part you didn't tell us about, whether or not you like him like that. Well, you can always try telling him that you didn't mean to act the way you did. I mean, you don't trust her, but that can't really stop anything from happening. Tell us a little more about the situation and more of your feelings about the guy.

i do like him. i have for a while & he knows this but we aren't ever going to be anything more than friends. but it kind of comes and goes. i don't know how to explain it. i wish i didn't.
i guess i am really protective over him. i know there isn't anything i can do to stop this and i am not going to try because it could jepardize everything. besides, he is his own person and will do what he wants even if it sucks for me. but replying to Wo0yaPo0ya, i don't care if he has other girl friends, whatever. but sometimes i feel like he tries to rub it in my face. |

I have been in a similar situation.
It's better just to let go if you aren't going to be anymore than friends. There is no point in getting jealous, and it will only cause you pain. |

Think about it this way~
Being his best friend probably means that you are actually first. He won't dump you because you aren't boyfriend/girlfriend, and he can get closer to you because he sees you differently from girls he dates. I enjoy being best friends with guys because it is a great experience, and they often treat me better than 'regular' girls. Best friends can last forever. :) |

even if he ends up going out with this girl, you'll still be really close to him... and also, boyfriend/girlfriend relationships can come and go but best friends will stay together. |

You guys can be friends, forever. Try to just act cool, and ignore your jealousy a little. Acting weird, will make things weird. I can't really say I've been in a situation like this, almost the other way around. I've had a lot of my guy friends quit talking to me, because their girlfriends are jealous of our relationship. I usually try to hook up my guy friends. Then the girl flips out. |
