I have this thing about calling everyone the words "dear", "darlin'", "kiddo", "love", or "honey" constantly. Most don't mind (or just don't mention it), but there are some people who go crazy over that stuff. Like they refuse to ever let me call them any of those, so everytime that I accidently do, this look of "OMGWTFDON'TCALLMETHAT" takes over their face.
I don't know why I do it, it's just a sign of affection that I've grown accustomed to. It's totally opposite from the extremely sensitive don't-ever-go-near-me person I was a couple of years ago. |

Anything specific you'd like for us to discuss?
I have a friend like that too. He's really kind of depressed a lot, but he calls me names like that all the time.. and not others, which almost bugs me. I figure that whatever suits him is fine, since I'm not really affected. |

I'm not sure why people would freak out about being called such names. I can understand being annoyed by it though. A Facebook group says something along the lines of "adding 'poo' to people's names is a great way to make friends." Hey, it's (somewhat) true. :P
P.S. Topics don't necessarily have to a 'point of discussion', so long as they won't lead to blatant spam. :P |

People freak out over that?! I love it when people use names like that I think its cute. If its something you do to show affection or just out of habbit...keep doing it! Its your personality.

I call my brother "honey" just to piss him off. But that's only because I'm his sister, haha.
I don't know, I like it when nice old ladies call me "sweetheart". Better than having them scowl at you. |

I'm an abuser of the word, "babe." Everyone is "babe." So far, haven't had a lot of resistence to it, except once. This guy (who was an ex, by the way) got tremendously (and overly) angry about it. We're talking... "don't you DARE call me that again" type aggro. So of course I replied, "Sure thing, babe."

I'm usually annoyed by being called names like that... especially if I'm not close w/ the person. Like when total strangers do it? Euuuggh.

I don't mind being called those words, and I've never met anyone who freaked out about it. Then again, I almost never use any of those words. I only say "dear" sometimes, and only to certain people.

I must admit, I'm one of those people who give weird reactions to that. I guess it's just because I don't hear it alot. I'll be like "uhh" if someone calls me hun, dear, sweety, babe, etc. It's just not normal for me.

I call my brother "honey" just to piss him off. But that's only because I'm his sister, haha. My brother detests when I call him any of the affection words. The words "babe", "honey", or "love", I think, get to people the most. There's a certain romantic connotation that makes people think "Oh my gosh, stop hitting on me!" |

Call someone "dearheart." They all react badly. I'm still not exactly sure why. I don't exactly remember why I started calling people that either.
I don't really mind when people call me things like that because I'm used to it. Hardly anyone uses my real name anymore (heck, you're not using my real name if you're gonna call me Reili), so I guess that's part of it. |

People call me those things sometimes. The first thought that usually comes into my head is "Wtf?" but then I get over it & I just laugh. It's really not that big a deal as some people make it.
It's like how some girls slap other girls' butts. Yeaaaah......... |
