I already did.

But for your sake, I'll do it again.

Theistic evolution. God created the world and evolution took over as the process that spawned new species. Genesis says taht God created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh. Now, some people believe that those days aren't literal 24 hour days which the gap theory and day age theory would come into play.

Day-Age Creationism, a type of Old Earth creationism, is an effort to reconcile the literal Genesis account of Creation with modern scientific theories on the age of the Universe, the Earth, life, and humans. It holds that the six days referred to in the Genesis account of creation are not ordinary 24-hour days, but rather are much longer periods (of thousands or millions of years). The Genesis account is then interpreted as an account of the process of cosmic evolution, providing a broad base on which any number of theories and interpretations are built. Proponents of the Day-Age Theory can be found among theistic evolutionists and progressive creationists.

Gap Creationism, also called Restitution creationism or Ruin-Reconstruction, are terms used to describe a particular set of Christian beliefs about the creation of the Universe and the origin of man. The concept of the Gap Theory is widely thought to have been promulgated by William Buckland and Thomas Chalmers in the early 1800s, though some adherents maintain that it can be traced back to biblical times. Certainly it became quite popular when it was promoted by the Scofield Reference Bible in 1909.

First of all, when people think that those theories are correct, they aren't taking in consideration the actual translations of the Bible. Hebrew for the Old Testament and Greek for the New Testament.

When we look at the word day in the Genesis account of creation, you have to look back at the Hebrew translation. Yom is the word that is used in the Hebrew to represent 'A 24 hour day.' '

Therefore, the Genesis account of creation would disprove Theistic Evolution just by that one little word.

I'm sorry but this is really confusing to me. First of all, how is this science proving anything, you didn't give me a link by a "professional" that proved it wrong but by you proving it wrong and that is totally impossible. You can't say "It's been proven wrong because I proved it wrong". I just don't understand how Theistic Evolution is wrong. I see what your saying in the Bible but what me and this other person are trying to say is that we believe God created everything at the beginning but made evolution over time possible which I believe is possible if that's the evolution your claiming to believe in. Now, if your saying that Evolution and God created the earth and everything at the beginning that's impossible, you can't believe in both things.

Firstly, you believe in the Bible, and it clearly says that God created all things after their own kind. Implying that no things have evolved. Just variations within a kind.

The next thing you can do on your own. Check the Hebrew translation for the word 'day' in the Genesis account of the creation.

You should get the word 'Yom' in Hebrew. It means a literal 24 hour day.

I didn't read all 40 something pages here, so I have no idea if anyone has already said this yet. I believe in creationism because something can't come from nothing. And unless I'm mistaken, the universe couldn't have always existed according to the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. The universe and even the environments here on earth just seem too well planned to be a cosmic "accident". The fact that the earth is just the right size to sustain life and is just the right distance from the sun. The fact that earth is the only planet to have a 23 degree tilt so that all parts of its surface have sunlight. It's just too much to be an accident.

See, that's what I believe in variations within one kind such as the dog family (wolves..ect...). I don't believe that one animal can mate with a total different one to make up a completely different thing such as a bird mating with a cat...ect...So not I don't believe in that but we have evolved.

I didn't check the hebrew translation for day but I have heard of it many times _smile.gif

Exactly why I rather believe in Creation but Evolution also teaches that we came from the homonid but then you have to think, who created or what created the homonid lol.

So, how are we evolving? Please explain yourself. happy.gif

Evolution can't be possible because it would take billions of years as evolutionists say...

But what they don't take in account is that over time things run down. Our sun is getting smaller and the speed of light is slowing down. Thus the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.

If our world is billions of years old, we would have no sun because it simply cannot last over 4 billion years.

Also, here's a question that I just thought of...

We know that the universe has a limit. If it didn't then God couldn't exist because God exists beyond time and space.

So, if the world evolved or was created by natural chance wouldn't the universe be continuous and never ending?

Also, another contradictory point against evolution is altruism. Altruism is simply doing good deeds for others contrary to evolutionary teachings of survival of the fittest.

If we did evolve then we are just animals. Animals, and there probably a few exceptions, have a natural instinct to survive. I'm not against survival of the fittest, or natural selection, but it contradicts that certain view point of evolution.

Not to mention that evolution teaches racism. Socialistic evolution or something like that teaches that the white race is the highest race and that all other races have yet to evolve.

So, I guess essentially if you believe in evolution, you're a racist.

Hmm.

Well, if your talking about Evolution in the sense of the Big Bang Theory and all that, no I don't believe in that.

What has evolved? Well, my boyfriend brought this up...for an example, we have evolved as in height, like many years ago the mens average height was shorter then it is today but now the average height is taller...we have evolved in that sense. Just a lot of different things have evolved. Or like I said before "creation of species over time/generations". That's the only Evolution I believe in which is not racist or against the Bible because I believe God did create everything but I believe everything has evolved. Did you know that they recently found a new species of Leopard? That's the Evolution I'm talking about, it has evolved, it is a new species but from the leoperd family of course and is a leoprad but a new species of it.

Actually, people have become significantly shorter. You have to understand that things happen in series or waves.

For instance, weather has irregular patterns every hundred years or so.

The fact that people have become taller averagly, doesn't mean that we evolved. What significance does height have for humans?

A scientist found a fossil of a human leg bone that was 12 feet long. Imagine that.

Considering our environment is changing we adapt to that environment, which isn't evolution.

Air has become less dense since the creation of things. People don't live as long, and suffer and don't heal as fast.

You're boyfriend doesn't believe in the Bible and it's wrong to mix evolution with the Bible. You said so yourself that you only trust Gods word and God's word never says anything about evolution.

You have to research what you actually believe. Evolution comes as a result of mutations. There has never been found one helpful mutation.

Yes, a gradual increase. But not only does it contradict what the Bible says, it also contradicts natural laws.

I want one good observation that you think is evolution. And not height.

Do you believe that we are above animals? I do... Science says so.

We have a higher thinking capacity. We can create abstact though, dream...we have morals.

Animals don't. They might have a sense of compassion, but it's all instinctual.

If humans are evolving then so does God, because God made us in His image. God is constant. He doesn't evolve. Why would we?

First of all, we are mammals and we are a species, we just have a better brain capacity.

As for God, why would he evolve? He has no reason to evolve! But I think he caused us to evolve so he can see what would come of it.

yes, we are mammals only because we fit into a category of such characteristics.

My point about God is that He said that He made man in His image and by saying that man is evolving it would say that God's image must change as well. Making God inconsistent and the Bible fallible, that cannot happen.

Well, maybe God just made us in His image and then He let natural process take over. Maybe, but it's doubtful. Because if God did that, His word would be outdated and useless. The only purpose it could serve is a guideline on how to live your life morally. But you don't need the Bible to teach you that, so the Bible would probably be abandoned. If humans do evolve, then like I said, the Bible would be outdated. Then what? We change the words so that it stays up to par? Wrong, Like you mentioned many a time Heath... You shall not add or subract anything from the Bible.

So, humans can't evolve because it would contradict the Bible and God, and God cannot be contradicted.

God doesn't know suprise. I find it highly unlikely that God made humans for sheer entertainment.

Then that would mean you can't either which means you can't believe in the Trinity because it is not biblical wink.gif

As I said before in another thread about the image thing, if God is perfect and we were created in his image, we also would be perfect.

Stop asking repetative questions. I've already given you an answer. But yet, you seem to repeat your questions.

Man was perfect. Man was created in the image of God, and God is perfect. Using simple logic, we know that man was perfect at one time. What caused us to become corrupt? Well, firstly, temptation was the root of it. Satan tempted Eve to eat from the tree. Now, if man was perfect than how could he have been tempted?

Well, man was perfect in a different sense. If God created us perfectly in His image, then we would have omniscience, and be all powerful. But we know that if that were to happen than we would be on an equal plane with God. So, this means that there must be different levels of perfect.

I'm sorry I don't follow your logic. I believe the Trinity because the Bible proves that God is not a monad. If He's not more than one being then, the there must be three distinct charracteristics, or peronalities because they are mentioned in the Bible. And Gen. 1:26 proves that to an even more powerful extent.

My battery is about to die, so I'll post tomarrow.

As me and Jessica have both said. Trinity believes in 3 different "people" not 3 different "characteristics". What you believe in, isn't the Trinity.

In my own opinion Heaven makes more sense than Evolution. What about Heaven doesn't make sense to you? As for being raised since little kids. I was taught to believe in God and Heaven but I was never taught to follow God or be a Christian. Mine was built on what I was taught but on logic too because my mom gave me a choice of what to believe in she just taught me that God exists. Later on, when I became like 23 I submitted my heart to God and became a follower of Jesus. My choice is NOT out of fear of Hell however (yes I'd like to go to Heaven rather than Hell for my eternal life) but my main reason is because of love, I respect all God has done for us, if he didn't love us he wouldn't of died on the cross for us. If you think that the only reason people choose to love God is because of there fear, your misguided and judgemental because that's not true for everyone!

I personally believe that Science proves the existance of God, which is why I don't take the bible literally.
I'm no expert on the subject since I'm only a freshman, but doesn't it take energy to create the universe? Where did this energy come from? And since energy can't be created (nor destroyed), there must have been some form of deity that made energy in order for the universe to be created.
Therefore, I believe in God.

^ That's the exact same reason why I believe in God. I dont believe the Bible is the word of God, so therefore I cannot believe in creation. But instead, like I've probably already said, I believe in Theistic Evolution. _smile.gif

There's no such thing as Theistic Evolution. You either believe Evolution created the earth or God did..not both. Your reply actually confuses me. You say you believe in God too yet you don't believe in creation.

Theistic Evolution is the believe that God created the phenomena that scientists are uncovering, concerning the creation of the earth... instead of believing things came together on their own. Our world is so complex, that there has to be a creator.

The creator is so complex, that there has to be a creator of the creator!

Could you explain the bolded part further, please?
