I'm really confused. Love comes from heart? Does the heart has a mind of its own?

If your heart was transplanted, are you able to love the same person?

Or, does love comes from your brain?

It's strange. People say, "listen to your heart, not your mind". I'm like, "what the heck?"

I think love comes from the soul.
You can't really have a soul transplant, but if you sell it... ermm.gif

Well, obviously, it's from your mind.. your heart is just an organ that helps pass oxygen around.. people just used to think (wayyyy wayy back when) that your heart was basically what your brain is now.

I don't think your mind or heart is any part of it. I think your heart is just representing your sold (like someone else said) cause honestly how could your mind make you feel that way all over...

Soul wink.gif

and that does make sense.

I've always just thought love was a feeling that you feel like any other thing, its just a strong feeling or care and warmth that you feel for someone else. A heart is something that helps you breathe so maybe people just thought that if you loved someone with all your heart then you love them with your whole life? Thats what I got from those quotes, kind of odd perhaps.

Jordi said something close to what I was going to say actually so his is good enough _smile.gif

Originally, the heart was thought as the organ responsible for emotion and reason. There's references of such belief in the Genesis, the classical philosopher Zeno considered it to host the human soul, and even Aristotle suggested a similar thesis.

I guess that despite the advances in anatomy, the more "romantic" view of the heart has maintained all this time.

anyways, i don't know. maybe they're thinking of this heart: throb.gif Or for example when your singing something, or something bad happens... you put your hand over your heart. Maybe it's just that theres something about that spot. Then again, love is the closest thing we have to magic, and I don't we really have it all figured out. _smile.gif

i think it's something to do with the air and breath. if you love someone, have crush on someone, felt for someone, or whatever. your heart starts beating faster and sucking more air.

I think they mean listen to your intuition/gut feeling. laugh.gif Not the organ...

Before I'd always say that love comes from the brain since I wasn't into the "listen to your heart" phrase, and I'm still not a fan of the phrase now. However, sometimes when I'm just emotionally screwed over by someone I care about (which has happened twice), then my heart kind of feels like... crap. I don't really know how to describe how it feels; maybe some of you guys know?

But maybe it's just a mental thing.

It's definitely a mental thing, because I'm pretty damn sure that emotions don't literally come from that organ that's left-center. But there are, I suppose, physical symptoms of love. You know, hormones. Fight or flight, giddyness....all of it causes the organ to beat faster and faster.

And then there's heart; which is, above all, highly metaphorical. I do believe that the heart, the holder of emotions, resides in the soul. It isn't physical but mental and unique; this thing is the kind to get broken, the kind to bring passion, the kind that moves mountain. [/cheesiness]

Yeah, pretty sure the organ can't do all that.

technically, i think love comes from your brain. when you see a certain somebody and all the physical reactions start; your heart starts beating faster, you feel nervous, etc. ... that could be controlled by the brain... ehh i'd like to find an actual source but i can't be bothered to.

of course, the heart is the more symbolistic origin of love.

I guess technically, love or feelings for a person come from your brain... but I dont think it can truly be love unless your heart feels the same way.

Well it's not literally coming from the heart. I guess society just makes it so that we've grown to think we love from the heart. It's all in the mind for sure.

Love comes from the brain, technically. I believe that it also comes from the soul.
