probably because someone took the name that they originally wanted but they want to keep it so they can remeber it and they put something else that they wanted in the other one.

Ok. Here's how it goes.
You know how people register but then later, they want to change their name? Well, instead of completely unregistering that user name, they can simply keep it and change their display name so they don't lose their old posts and keep their PPD, PM's, and what not. Changing their display name will change the name seen on all your posts, even previous ones. Get it?
