Disagree with me if you'd like but, I used to be a member on this site about a year ago, and I ditched my account. I did this because it seemed all this site was about was power, and posts. I got over it and came back with a new screen name. Here I am and about a year later, nothing has changed. Here is what I've thought

From my understanding the post count is meant to have a corrolation with your contribution to community. Because the sandbox tends to be full of "spam" they (staff) doesn't consider posts made in there to be legit. If post counts are supposed to represent your contribution to the community then.... they probably shouldn't allow post counts to increase when people post in "sandbox". How I feel: Honstly, I could care less as to how many posts people make... once you have over 200 it doesn't matter anyways. The diffence between an individual with 10k posts and 2k posts is really slim to none, but if the want to make a big deal out of it then they probably shouldn't allow post counts in the sandbox. QUOTE
Well, the posts you make, the more well known you become, the more adapted you become to the cB environment, you learn the "unwritten rules as you might call them, and learn how to "survive cB". I know how you feel. You arn't the first one to say this and you certainly won't be the last. I only wish the members of this site would realize this, and try to come up with a solution. QUOTE
I think you're trying to say something else, but it's comming out wrong. I'm not sure what you're getting at. You should rephrase this or explain yourself just a bit more. |

Hi there -
The Sandbox is basically the Forum Games section of cB. Post count shouldn't count there as the majority of responses there are one word/spam. It's cool to spam in the "First to post on such and such" threads. It's where you can unleash, so-to-speak and not worry about being warned and such since post counts are disabled in that forum. If you enable post counts there, you'd have to get rid of those types of threads, which people tend to really enjoy. The majority of cB is post count enabled, so if that's what you're really worried about (I'm not saying that you are worried, necessarily) then post around. I've seen you do that (post in different forums), so you really have nothing to be concerned about. I'm sure your post count is going up steadily. Perhaps you feel out of place? Or that you can't seem to befriend people because some folks here know eachother so well? Having high post counts typically mean you've been here for a while and the chances of you having a social network within cB would go hand in hand with that (generally), I believe. True, we do have a number of opinionated and blunt personalities here. It's part of what makes cB so entertaining, in my opinion. :) I really don't see much of the rule breaking and I honestly do not see staff ignoring anyone who does (although I'm sure something is bound to slip off the radar). If anything, staff is perpetually accused of being too hung up on rules. To me, rudely honest aren't words that should necessarily be paired together. Blunt? Sure. Rude? Yep, happens (and unfortunately it seems like you feel this happens too often). Blatent, concise honesty shouldn't be confused with rudeness though. It's a shame that you aren't happy with the goings on here. I'm not sure what else to say. ![]() |

The last 3 posts are the mods I really like here on cB there are others with big post number that will surely show up her in a matter of hours. If cB stayed with this mature users (see above) this post wouldn't even exsist.

When I first became a member here I felt a tad unwelcomed and out of place. Everyone had their own little clique and since I was the n00b I was basically ignored for a while. It also took me a while to get use to some of the strong personalites on the site. But these personalities make this site was it is, which like Rebecca said, can be quite entertaining.
I agree with Josh, there is little difference between someone with 2k or 10k post count. In fact there have been excellent members on this site that have been here for a very long time that have posts that barely hit 2k or 3k. I believe in quality over quantity any day and I think most would agree. |

![]() Everything I'd like to say has already been said, but I'd like to re-iterate that perhaps you just need more time here. I know I started out rather shaky; shoot, even when I was modded most people didn't know me. It's just a matter of being patient and looking at it from all points of view. Stick around and you may find that you do fit in just fine. |

![]() I don't think she was being a jerk to you to you selv... I said the same thing, "I know how you feel. You arn't the first one to say this and you certainly won't be the last.", but I just worded it differently. I guess I can see why you would have taken it the way you did, but I don't think that she meant it to be offensive. Maybe it shouldn't have been her opening statement... I think you're definitely judging her, but I don't think that it's all your fault. In the same way you didn't have to judge her, She could have worded it differently, and I understand why you took that comment out of context. |

I scanned through some of the replies, but I might say something that has already been said. I do agree that post count doesn't really matter to a lot of people. When I first started coming here, I must admit, I was somewhat intimidated by people that had 10,000 some posts. It didn't take me long to figure out that just because someone has a lot of posts it doesn't mean their posts are always great, original, and insightful. (I don't mean this in any disrespect at all to people with lots of posts).
I think maybe some of what you're feeling is the fact that you haven't been back here for a long time. A lot of times it's hard for someone to not come off as rude (esspecially mods who are enforcing rules) when you don't know them and they're really just trying to be honest or do their "job". |
