Did you guys hear anything about this; supposedly there was a survey from the government to decide what we should be "called". The choices were Hispanics, Chicanos, Latinos and another one. Supposedly it went first place Hispanics, Second Place Chicanos, Third Latinos, and fourh the other one.

I find the word chicanos to be rather alien and foreign. I understand the word and it makes sense, but it's so rare in this area that I'm surpriese that it got second. And although I think the word Hispanics does really well in being all-encompassing with the "Spanish" races, I feel like Latinos makes the most sense. Not all Spanish-speakers are from Spain (which relates to the word Hispanic), there's Portugal.
But, as a doubel-edged sword, there are many languages and cultures that stem from the Latin language, including French and English. |

I think Hispanic should be the "offcial" name but Latinos for slang. I like Latinos better then Hispanic. I call myself Latina not hispanic & I have a shirt that says Latina, my sister has one that says latina is bonita

Haha that reminds me of me & my friend, I can't eat anything "spicey".
Once I got a burrito, and my friend wanted to try it. So I let her. She took a bite and was like "OMFG THIS IS SOOOOOOOOO f**king SPICEY AHHHHHHHHHH I NEED WATER! @!#!$%@##%!!!!!" and I was just staring at her cause I was like, "this isn't spicey at all..." and she can stand spicey food.. so yeah. nothings EVER spicey for me. lol.  |
