So, I just found out that my great uncle's great uncle's uncle's cousin was from Puerto Rico. Thus, I'm claiming Hispanic blood! I'm Irish-Hispanic. A deadly mix.

Has anybody else ever found out stuff about theur family history?

My grand grandfather fished with dynamite, and I think it was one of his brothers who dressed up as a catholic priest to welcome General Franco's army when it entered town (that was his last stunt ._.).

My dad's uncle used to smuggle alcohol, etc... through the border between Spain, France and Andorra. =O

Nothing too exciting in my family. My grandpa (Opa) came over from Germany and his dad thought his wife was dead so he only took 5 of the kids (including my grandpa) and came to America, but it turned out that she wasn't dead. No nazi's in my family though, thank god.

I think my grandpa on my dad's side almost got blown up by a bomb during WW2. I think his friend did instead, because my grandpa was faster? blink.gif

Sweet, I'm always trying to find stuff out about my family.

Nothing I can really add right now, but if there is any cool places where you can tell me where I can look stuff up that would be uber cool.

No, not really.

I know that my maternal grandmother speaks and read Japanese, even though we are Taiwanese.

And I just recently knew that I am, in fact, only 25% Taiwanese and 75% mainland Chinese.

Well, you live in USA, you must have some USA-ness in you.

And, just for the record, I consider myself 95% Irish, 4% Canadian and 1% Puerto Rican biggrin.gif

You should meet Diana (Monochrome.), the "infamous Irish-accented Mexican." laugh.gif She's cool.

Uh, well my mom and grandparents lived through the whole bit with Mao Zedong in China. I don't think their apartment was searched though.

Well, over the past couple of years... I've discovered alot of my heritage.

It turns out:

- My grandmother was secretly Jewish, and that "Roman Catholic" was just her entire family's way of covering all that up... because if they didnt, they'd surely be killed / thrown in concentration camps. (I already knew she was born and raised in East Germany during WW2). But it turns out she escaped into West Germany at the very end of the war when she was 18.

- That my great great grandfather was a burgelmeister (mayor) of a city w/ about 300,000 people in East Germany. He eventually had to step down when he was in some sort of meeting, and got hit in the face by a pro-Nazi because he was standing up for what he believed in. He ended up going blind over it. This was about 10 years before WW2.

- That my great grandfather was a high rank Nazi soilder (was forced)... and was eventually held as a prisoner of war by the US.

- That I have a great great great something grandfather buried in the Westminister Abbey in England.

- That there's a freakishly long line of doctor's in my dad's dad's family.

- And besides being 1/2 German, everything else is Scottish. SCOTTISH. What the hell. I thought I was like English/Irish ect ect. SO DOES THAT MAKE ME KILT WORTHY? XD.gif

And all of this is from my Dad's side, except for being Scottish. xD
I think I went overboard. But I'm just now finding out about all of this. mellow.gif

^Oh hon', don't be ashamed about ranting about that. I used to daydream that I was secretly adopted and actually belonged to some royal family.

^Hehe. Ever since lying to my teacher in Elementary school, claiming that I was born in Germany because my parents were on vacation... and her accusing me of lying infront of the entire class... I've always been weary of stuff like that. mellow.gif

Oooh, Royal family? Like, a medieval one? Or more like being related to the Queen of England?

medieval in some far distant land like GENEVIA!

My family history, according to my childhood fantasies:

My mom is a princess.
My father is a prince.
Okay, now go all Romeo and Juliet with the above, and now nobody knows what to do with me.

My mom's grandparents are like Fiona's parents in Shrek. Including the frog part.

Somewhere along the line my great great great, etc. grandfather was adopted into the royal family for saving the world.
