Chinese Food Delivery Man Killed in Brooklyn by Two Teenagers

"Their plan was to split the money between the two males and to give the female the food," a high-ranking police source said. Shaniqua Brown, 19, allegedly called the Happy House restaurant around 8 p.m. Tuesday, saying she wanted a $13 order of General Tso's chicken, hot wings and French fries delivered to a fourth-floor apartment in Brownsville. She lives in another apartment in the Union St. building, cops said.



Ambushed

When Lin arrived, the people in the fourth-floor apartment denied ordering food. He walked down the stairs and was ambushed on the second floor by a 22-year-old gunman, cops said.



"The perp said, 'Give it up,'" said the police source. "The victim then pulled out a kitchen knife and was shot ... in the stomach." Lin, an undocumented immigrant from Fuzhou, China, was carrying $12, which was not taken. The food was left at the scene, but Lin's bike was stolen, police said.



Charged with murder and attempted robbery were Brown and Ernest Carroway, 16, of Queens, who confessed to being the trio's lookout, cops said. They did not release the name of the suspected shooter in the slaying, which eerily echoed the 2000 killing of a Queens deliveryman lured and beaten to death by teenagers.



Lin was married with two children and lived with other Chinese immigrants in an apartment above the Happy House.



He was working long hours to raise money to bring his family to the United States, friends said. Yesterday, neighbors built a shrine of candles and flowers near the crime scene.



"I don't care if he's white, red, green or orange," said James McDuffy, 50. "He was a man, and he was part of the community."

It's probably best to give muggers what they want, and then run like hell. Muggers usually don't want to kill anyone.

Not saying he deserved to die or anything, but the Chinese food deliveryman's mistake was in pulling a knife.
