Based off the inspiration thread, do you use photography that you take or others take as inspiration for graphics and design? I personally enjoy looking up vintage types of photographs and creating some sort of theme out of them.

I always look for colors in photography and perhaps may try and achieve it. I suppose it could be vintage to some people.

I think it depends on the image for me, although I have to admit that I don't use stock photos much to begin with. If I like the colors, I'll make the rest of the layout work for it, but if I don't fathom the colors in the image, well, then.. off to work I go! Wow. [/lame]

varies... usually stock inspires me... but when i use my own pictures they aren't for layouts... i tend to experiment with different types of styles... (photo manipulation)

either stock or other people's photos... they tend to get me to leave the house and try to take all sorts of photos biggrin.gif

For photomanipulations it's the stock that inspires me the most. However, with photography I have a few photographers I subscribe to at DA who inspire me. _smile.gif

a lot of them can be over done, but urban decay is awesome
Nature photos are good when edited the right way, or taking shots through plants < something nature with some town or house near by makes many nature photos awesome...

i guess it varies on where the photographer lives when taking nature shots

The different ways people can do with photography, like the main focal point, angles, colors, everything about is amazing when you do it right, which I don't know but I know when I see it.

I've never used my own images when I design something.
I should, I guess, but even though I live out in the country, it's farmland and not very pretty, so it's looks better if I go and find landscape stock images to use.

I've always found graffiti a wonderful thing. Maybe it's the colors.

Surprisingly I don't use photography in my graphics much. But if I were to, they wouldn't be my own. Partially because I can't take pictures for shizzle.

Whenever I see a vivid colored photograph, I try my hardest to get the tone, and brightness. So I need to be inspired when it comes to photography. So yes, I look at others first.

I like to use stock images (such as gettyimages.com) to find colorful interesting photos to edit and put together in collages. But it's nice to use your own work once in awhile. So I guess a bit of both. cool.gif

There are so many possibilities to photography. You can look at it and be inspired, or take pictures, show them to others, and inspire them, or utilize them for designing, and all sorts of things! For me, I enjoy viewing pictures that have to do with nature, because it is a b-e-a-u-tiful thing. But still, I appreciate all types of photography.
