Don't tell anyone, but... Options

I remember for the longest time nobody would tell me anything that was at all secretive because well, I talk a lot. And, for a short period of time, I was a bit of a blabber-mouth. Secrets were not safe with me. But after a...couple weeks? I stopped. Seriously, I just didn't feel like talking about other people any more. It bothered me. But those two weeks basically made my friends say "I trust you, but not with secrets." It took a long time to get people to trust and confide me. I'm thankful to say that I don't consider myself a gossipy person or a "shit-talking" person, not that there's anything particular horrible about being so.

I do tend to gossip, esp with my family about family but it stays within family, but I do gossip when I know the stuff I talk about isn't about stuff I'm told I'm not allowed to say. I am good at keeping secrets, and I know when to keep my mouth shut now, I don't gossip as much as I did back then.

No, I always keep secrets my friends tell me. I'm honoured that they trust me enough. However, when I was really young I'd blab about everything.

I don't really talk about people behind their backs, or tell other people things that they don't want me to. It's just been the way I always have been. Unless someone was like "Don't tell them, but I'm going to kill them" but I don't make friends like that, so i will never be faced with something like that.

Sure, it's fun and all of that, but I try to keep those secrets to myself. Like if my friends are talking about someone, something may slip out but only rarely.

Oh God, my family is a gossip machine. If one thing happens to someone, it goes around with a snap of a finger. Mother calls mother, cousin calls cousin. My cousin and I have a bet to who manages to find out about things last. Sadly, I tend to find things out rather quickly, my mother used to be the main starter of the rumor mill.

Eh, I really don't consider myself to be a blabber mouth or gossipy. I've just never felt the need to talk about anyone behind their back or just talk about other people that I shouldn't have any concern over. I don't really talk to a lot of people anyway, I like keeping it that way anyway. Secrets, anyone that ever needs to let something off their chest they usually tell me. I don't have anyone to tell any of their secrets to so they trust me, I'm usually the listener of a lot of things and I rather keep it that way, always.

Well, what does one have to do to deserve it? Is it the severity of the thing they did? Or how popular they are?

^Well, think of celebrities. I've seen Brangelina headlines top Iraq ones. I wasn't saying that popularity should dictate the "deserving" of back-talk, but it is, realistically and unfortunately, a major factor.

EDIT: Honestly, I've seen popularity dictate things like this irl. Using celebrities as an example was just a simple way to express the thought.

People who are my friends trusts me a lot, and I don't tell their secrets to anyone either. Most the time I don't care if its the secret of some an enemy or someone I don't like.

Just what I was thinking. I love catching the gossip train, it makes me laugh about what people care about sometimes. Although I enjoy gossip, I try to watch my mouth and not start any.
