Advice for Acting by Jane _smile.gif
1. (The most important rule everrr) Always have fun no matter what. You don't have to struggle just to be big.

2. Learn to be professional and learn to take rejection.

Me, I'm a cancer >_> I'm pretty sensitive but these kinda things we all have to learn to do. When someone critizes your acting or what you do, don't take it as something to look down upon. Listen to what they have to say--they could be right and it could be something you can work on.

3. Stage fright: This is completely normal. Sometimes I get stage fright as well.

Well...have you ever watched Hannah Montana? Ever seen the episode where she's warming up? And she goes Ang Ang Ang Ang like a dog? xD Well always try to lossen up and relax before performing. It calms the nerves and let's you focus.

4. Breathe.

Probably the most important rule. If you ever feel like you're forgetting a line, take a deep breath. If you can't remember your line just continue to act the emotion.

5. Practice.

There are many actors/actresses out there. Many your friends and you can have a little fun and act out a movie. You guys will be practicing and sharpening your skills when you don't even know it!

6. Be a social butterfly.

Actors have very outgoing personalities, so why not you? Try talking to people more, start conversations (even with your friends!) don't be afraid to smile. This will definately boost your confidence and break through the shy barrier.

You should never give up. If you get rejected, try again! (= Trust me. That's just 1 of the 70 auditions that you will get turned down. The other 69 are up to you.

Advice for the photographers Submitted by Arjuna Capulong
To photographers out there:
If you're planning to be a photographer as your future career, you'd have an advantage if you start some kind of small business early, like now, or whenever you think you're ready (as soon as possible, however).
You can then start building your reputation as a photographer, while getting the gist of running a business. It's a pretty good experience, overall.

ALSO! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about barbizon or anything of the above.

There's still more to come...

You don't necessarily need to know what you want in life to know what you want to be. Maybe a leap year is good for you. I'm not sure if "leap year" is the right phrase for it, but it means taking a break for a year before college to really find what's right for you. That could be through internships, travel, etc. Of course, you have to make something out of that year instead of just procrastinating.

It's a gap year.

Leap year is an extra day added in February every 4 years to correspond with the earth's motion around the sun in the u.s. calendar tongue.gif

Oh Loooord! I knew there was another word. I knew what a leap year was (my brother was born on February 29th, the lucky kid), but it was the only thing that made sense to me at the time. Thanks for correcting me. laugh.gif

Anyone know a good place to get an education in business?

Just wondering. I took a career assessment thing at school, and a lot of the recommended jobs involved business schooling.

There's a business and finance high school near my area. But I'm not sure you'd want to move all the way from there to attend. sweating.gif

What's your modelling meet up for? Runway or commercial print?

I've decided to declare my major. I'm going to be a music major, and hopefully end up working in the music industry.

Music education, possibly? Being a music major would be so much fun, and it's less stressful - you work at your own pace, rather. Except, that's kinda the thing with me. Music is really all skill-based rather than memorization. I'm afraid I just won't have the skills. ermm.gif Perhaps a minor wouldn't hurt...

No, not education. Unfortunately, I can't stand teaching. I'm looking into production, music administration, which is a growing field in need of more people who understand both music and business, and other fields like this in the music industry. I know for certain that I'll keep composing though.

I'm kind of stuck between going into modern, popular music, or sticking to classical music.

Veterinarians

Okay, you need to finish an undergrad program to get in, and a couple require a bachelor's degree. After finishing the Undergard or Bachelor's program, then it takes another four years to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at a univeristy accredited by AVMA. Hard work and quite a few years of high-level education, but there's a very high job outlook and very good salary. _smile.gif

I think I want to be a desktop publisher. Not sure. But they basically design and lay-out brochures, business cards, and stuff like that. They don't make much, but I think I would LOVE it. Hopefully I could do it. :\ I have much much much to learn.

But almost everything involving Digital Media/Communications Technologies sounds interesting and awesome!

Interactive Media Design and it's a major that can take me into many possible careers. Right I'm looking into user interface design.

Like this, it sounds so cool!

And I still think Nikkie's major does too laugh.gif

You guys should tell me what awesome courses are involved and if you like it :)

I'm supposed to career shadow someone on March 27. Whether my extremely small school/town actually found a desktop publisher or something related in the area, who knows. But i sure do hope so. _smile.gif I'm excited!

Why not? Just out of curiosity.
