well i've read
A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY and i simply love the story!!
im planning to buy most of her works because i've heard that there are series

anyways A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY is about:

It's 1895, and after the suicide of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma's reception there is a chilly one.

To make things worse, she's been followed by a mysterious young Indian man, a man sent to watch her. But why? What is her destiny? And what will her entanglement with Spence's most powerful girls -- and their foray into the spiritual world -- lead to?

“A delicious, elegant gothic.”
—Publishers Weekly

“An interesting combination of fantasy, light horror, and historical fiction, with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure.”
—School Library Journal

i got it for my birthday two years ago, and once i started reading it, i was engrossed. it's definitely one of the better books i've read and i definitely reccommend it to anyone. unpredictable and spins a web of characters and situations that seem so real, but at the same time, so fantasized. pick this up and you won't be able to put it down!

i have yet to read the sequel, rebel angels. it looks amazing though =]

I wanted to get it like two years ago but my mom wouldn't let me...

I'm going to Barnes and Noble in a few days... I'll have to pick it up.

It creeped me out a bit... But it was interesting how it was both sort of a historical novel, but fantasy as well.

I really related to how Gemma was talking about how the Indian guy (forgot his name) was attracted to Pippa. She wasn't jealous of the fact that he liked her, but the fact that she would never have a beauty that captivated people, like Pippa did. ermm.gif

I still need to read the sequel!

I've enjoyed this series. I think the latest book came out not too long ago. So now there are three of them.
