Some people are spenders, some people are savers., And then there are the spenders who save, and the savers who spend.

Because of A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, our class was talking about our financial philosophies and how we plan to spend or save our money. Of course, there were those who have their entire life planned out and the people who couldn't care less.

I was erring on the side of the former, probably because my mom always instilled this value of having a savings account and such. My dad has always been a spender, but for some reason, that never really translated to me. shrug.gif So my philosophy has always been to write down all of my monetary needs in three categories: Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly. So tomorrow I need new toothpaste, by the end of the month yada yada, and save for college and such and such.

Well it really depends on me, I'm in between I like to spend at the same time save money for more important things. Basically I spend only if it's needed or if I hella want it. The stuff I hella want are usually expensive.

I save for awhile, then blow it all. It's actually pretty bad.

I learn to save my money, considering I only get money during my birthday or Christmas. Of course, I'm still 13, so my parents buy me a lot of things. rolleyes.gif

Nevertheless, I like to watch out for sales and stuff, because I totally understand taht moeny doesn't come freely and that you should take care of it/finance wisely. _smile.gif

My mom is the spender and my dad is the saver in my family.

I like to save money but I honestly have nothing to spend it on.

I don't really need clothes cause I stay at home all day with my pjs or my robe on. I don't bother with makeup since I'm not going to meet anyone so I don't need to buy that. As for my cleanser, I only need to pay 6 dollars at most (Sometimes I buy it on sale so it's 4 dollars) every year. Toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, soap, etc, I live off the free samples.

My last resort is spending money. If I can get it for free, I will.

I'm the saver who almost never spends. I don't splurge on things for myself that often, but I like to buy presents for my friends if their birthdays are coming up.

Note that my Chinese origin has been altered by the Indonesian way of life. Therefore, my parents are not as strict with everything like the Chinese parents (other than grades). biggrin.gif

I usually put some of my money in the bank, but then transfer some of my checks to my checking account or just get some cash outta checks.

I'm very much a saver. But considering my parents rarely gave me money when I was younger--or hell, now--I save everything and spend it slowly and only when NEEDING something. I should've practiced more, because now I have this anxiety when shopping so..:/.
My dad has no control over the money (or chooses not to)--my mom does all the work and she is neither a spender nor a saver. She spends what she has to on our bills, monthly expenses, etc. but also treats herself and my father and I when we ask her for something--within reason, of course. We couldn't just ask her for some ridiculously expensive electronic and expect her to deliver :p. I hope I can adopt her organization skills when I'm older, because she does what she has to so well. And they're so kind, they always remind me that they'll help me when it comes to school, living and expenses as long as I keep a goal and stay healthy. They even want to help me buy a condo when older so I won't be so poor and famished when trying to survive for the first time on my own _smile.gif--and can concentrate on school work more and worry less.

XD.gif Same here.
Each time I get more than $100, I hit the mall and it's all gone in 3 hours.
I'm not a saver at all. I buy expensive things much too often. My parents don't care as long as I don't steal their credit cards.

I save. I usually only spend my money on the things that either my parents won't buy me or the things that I really need. Right now I'm mainly saving all my money for Junior Prom which is in a month and is pretty expensive.

I don't really have an allowance, my mom just goes shopping with me and buys my clothes for me. XD.gif And for other stuff, I don't really get to choose. My cellphone, mp3, and all that stuffs comes from my dad.

All my money from relatives goes into the bank. My college is already paid for.

I try to save, like birthday and Christmas money... but they're both in the same two week span, and I don't have an income... so I end up spending it all within the month.

For the longest time, I could not spend money. Like I absolutely detested going shopping and laying the bills. Erghhhh, like the only think I'd ever spend money on was books and food.

And then Christmas shopping season came around and danggg, for a while there I could easily spend a hundred dollars in a day, whereas before I'd spend that much in 4 months.

I think I've found my balance, though, I really really think about my purchases, but I let myself splurge every now and then.
