“Grandpa, can you please please please teach me?” I begged.

But grandpa did not looked up or shifted from his morning meditation. I jumped about in place for a while…hoping that he would send some kind of signal of approval. He simply exhaled and lifted his chin slightly higher. I groaned and slumped on the floor.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pandora Tan Go, but everyone else just calls me Pan. My family isn’t the ordinary. Let’s just say I come from a rather…super natural background. I guess you can say it all started when my great grandfather discovered he had abilities while he was arguing with his mother back in 1890. Ever since then, life for the Tan Go family hasn’t been the same.

“Pan, you must learn the basics before you can jump to the more difficult things. How am I supposed to teach you gravitational pull when you have yet to master your glide?” My grandpa answered.

I pursed my lips. It wasn’t fair how my brothers were able to train for the stronger abilities while I was here mastering my “glide”. I wanted to be able to train with Si Koon and Go Han. It was time to prove my grandpa wrong.

“I have completed my gliding training, grandpa. See?” I assured.
I took a deep breath and began to walk slowly. So…it took a longer time than my brothers, but after a while my feet slowly lifted from the floor. I hovered lightly around the room, adding occasional spins and twirls. I saw my grandpa steal a glance through an opening of his left eye.

“So you have. But you’re still much slower than your brothers. Perhaps, we can move on to flinting if we practice for a few more days on your gliding.”

I felt my fist beginning to tighten. But I didn’t bother to say anything. If it’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s not to talk back to your elders…especially if they know how to wind slash. I realized some time ago that my temper was probably the reason why I was unable to keep up. An unfortunate passed on trait from my father’s side.

“No need to be angered, Pan. You will learn and be great just as your brothers. I’ll tell you what. I’ll be teaching you how to flint—but this is only if you can master gliding.” Grandpa offered.

“But Grandpa, I know for sure I’ll be able to overcome the flinting. Mother, she’s a flinter born, is she not?” I asked curiously.

My grandpa nodded.

“This is true. Your mother was one of the best in her days. I have no doubt that you’ll be able to flint. Hm…very well. Come outside with me, my dear Pan.”

I followed my grandfather out to the training field. Si Koon and Go Han were no where to be seen. I could’ve sworn that they headed out to the field an hour ago. I grunted, using all my strength to levitate a couple of feet off the floor. Were they air fighting? Alas, my brothers were no where to be seen. I turned to face my grandpa and opened my mouth to speak. He lifted a finger toward my lips and pointed at the sky. I watched but still nothing.

“Grandpa…this is ridiculous. What exactly are we—”

“Shh…just watch” My grandpa replied calmly.

I rolled my eyes secretly, but my attention was caught by something in the sky. I paid closer attention and soon found that it was blurs. Two blurs…definitely Si Koon and Go Han. It was as if I was watching a show on a bad television. I could hardly see them, for they had appeared for a few seconds then disappeared and appeared somewhere else. Never the less, they were still fighting.

“What are they doing, grandpa? Why are they so blurry?”

“Teleportation. But, need not worry. We haven’t gotten that far yet.” Grandpa answered.

He cleared his throat, “Si Koon! Go Han! I apologize for interrupting…but I’d like you two to come here for a while.”

I was surprised that my brothers could hear him from the roaring of the punches and kicks. They stopped dead in their tracks and quickly disappeared. Shortly after, they reappeared right by my grandpa.

“I need you to teach your sister how to flint.” My grandpa spoke softly.

“WHAT?!” We all exclaimed at the same time.

“I’m not working with—

“Oh, you’d be lucky if—

“Please, you think you’re all that—

I saw my grandfather’s eyes flash bright green. After that…I didn’t know what hurt more: the fact that I was yelling at the top of my lungs about how I refused to work with my brothers or the fact that almost right after, my brothers and I were sent flying into the sky and back down.

“You children are far too rowdy. Pan, you’re just like your father—your temper is short and that can really be the reason why we’ve been so behind. Si Koon, I’m aware that you’re the oldest, but keep in mind that that does not mean you are better than your siblings. Go Han…you’re a wise one, I hope you don’t fall into the pressure of your sibling’s quarrels.”

I crossed my arms and huffed. At this rate, I was never going to learn how to flint. I guess I was better off asking my mother.

“Pan…I’ll teach you.” Go Han said suddenly.

I looked at him for a long while and nodded.

“So…teach me.” I said bitterly.

Go Han stepped back a little and began to breathe in deeply. There was silence as my grandpa and Si Koon backed away from the two of us and watched from a far. I was starting to heat up. The sun was practically beating us down and all my brother seemed to want to do was do his freaking breathing exercises.

“Today, Go Han.” I snapped.

“Pan…please. Be patient.” Go Han answered me.
