i only read "fish cheeks" by her..it's like a kid's book. i read it in class and it was really boring.

This author is amazing. I recently read one of her short stories, Rules of the Game. I couldn't believe how much I could relate to her.

I read Joy Luck Club, finally. *in response to my other reply*
Some of the stories are REALLY good. But I agree the pinyin is weird, it's like a combination of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I saw the movie and some parts were kinda disturbing...especially the part with Wu Tsing cutting the watermelon and saying "KAI GUA!" then he licked the watermelon in a perverted way. Most of the stories of the daughters in their childhood can relate to me. |
