How do you use your eyelash curlers? I always thought that you put on the mascara and then you use the eyelash curler but i just bought a new one and the label said, "Avoid using the eyelash curler after putting on the mascara. How do you guys use the eyelash curler?

I always thought you're suppose to curl your eyelashes, and then put mascara.

technically, you're suppose to curl then use mascara. because if you did it the other way around, the mascara would flake all over the pad on the curler. then after a few uses, it would get very dirty and could lead to an eye irritation/infection. extremely dirty eyelash curler pads can cause your lashes to break off. also, curling after using mascara would rub some off your lashes so you have a lighter section in the middle.

if you curl it after, then the mascara will get clumpy and sticks to your curler.
Curl it first, but don't apply to much mascara, or otherwise the lashes will get straighten out. |

I don't do anything with my lashes.
But you know, mascara is sticky & will definitely mess up your curlers. That's what happened to my friends. |

The eyelash curler is suppose to be used before the application of the mascara.
If you do it the other way around, mascara gets stuck on to the curler. If you don't clean the curler after you use it, if you put on the mascara beforehand, bacteria will accumulate onto the mascara on the curler, and in the end you are just putting bacteria into your eye. That is just asking for infections. If you clean the curler after you use it, when you apply the mascara first, then you can do whatever way you please. I don't use an curler. I just put on mascara on the top and bottom. Or I just buy one that does the curling itself. Or I just don't wear it. |

I curl my lashes first, because if I don't, then I like have no lashes to apply the mascara on. Darn asian lashes xD
But my friends are all like "you curl your eyelashes after you apply the mascara!" which, in my opinion, didn't really make sense. I've done that before, and sometimes, when the mascara isn't fully dried when I'm curling my eyelashes... the mascara sticks to the eyelash curler and like rips my eyelashes off. It hurts! I've since changed my ways. |

I don't use one, but since I somehow know..
If you use one after applying mascara, your eyelashes are more prone to breaking and snapping off. |

I've tried the other way around though- It seems to make it more stable and more curly at first, but in the end it just pulls your eyelashes off...causing pain. -_-" |

There are a couple ways to use an eyelash curler that I know about...
You can heat it and curl right next to the lash line, then use mascara. You can curl without heating it, then use mascara. Some people who have more time curl different parts of their lashes so it's not too much of a crimp than a curl, but I don't bother. Also, some people put on mascara and curl their lashes a couple minutes later. You have to clean your curler a lot more though, because like Mish said, it does make your eyelashes easier to break/snap off. I've tried all of those and they all work decently. |

Curl first because if you apply mascara first, it damages your lashes.

you're suppose to put the mascara on after using an eyelash curler, or else your lashes may stick to the curler and get pulled off.
