So will CDs last any longer. expecially when everything is worked by download. Xbox 360 is coming up with IPTV where you can upload videos to it and watch on your television. Apple is coming out with the same thing and soon NETFLIX will convert to it.

In my opinion i dont think it will last. Just cause i rarely buy cds if i like the whole album and its always been like that for me.

So do you think CDs will last in the digital generation?

[i got this question from G4 AOTS]

I don't think so. So many people have already converted to iPods, mp3's, their computer (iTunes, windows media, etc) and especially downloading songs. CD's are getting to be too 'bulky', iPods weigh only a few ounces. Besides, people these days maybe only want 1 or 2 songs off an album, and rather than buying the whole thing, they can just purchase them online. It's much easier for society.

I only use cds for playing in my car. Outside of that I'm on my ipod. And even now there are devices for playing tunes from your ipod in your car.

I saw someone the other day at my school with a portable cd player and was thinking to myself, "People still use those?". I know that may be silly to think but I rarely see people with portable cd players now-a-days.

Do I think it will last through the digital age? Hmm..not too sure. A cd is one extra thing you have to carry. With such things are mp3s there's no extra baggage. I think that's why the are so popular. Personally I like the fact that I don't have to carry around 50+ plus cds, plus a portable cd player, plus having to worry that I have to handle my cd with care in an effort to make sure it's sratch free so I can enjoy my music. Nothing irriates me for than a skipping cd. Digital media eliminates that.

I still use CDs.. I don't like to download things through iTunes, so I buy CDs and burn them on my computer to put them on my iPod. I like to collect CD covers too. XD.gif

I still use CD's and haven't gotten any sort of MP3 player for myself yet, though I can definitely see why people find them so convenient. I still like that CDs can be played in most modern sound systems and in cars. However, I think that once most sound systems can take any kind of MP3 player, CD usage will diminish even more.

I think they'll last, how else are singers going to earn money? Selling MP3 files?

^Theoretically, yes.

You know, CDs have lasted this long, so I think they have some fight in them. I personally still use CDs, but I can see CDs taking the path that VHSs have.
