I was thinkin about some of the stuff on this site that i think is straight up bs. and my list goes a lil somethin' like this:
-why is there only a handful a black ppl on this site?
-how come only certain ppl get suspended when other ppl are doin' the same thing?
-how come there are so many mods?
-how come my warning level never goes down?
-where is the maker of cB cuz i never see him?

1 - There's only a handful of whites, Indians, hispanics, and whatever other ethnic groups, too.
2 - Most people get suspended for multiple wrong-doings, or what else you want to call it. There has to be a reason for it, and it must be pretty bad. I haven't really noticed lack of suspension for people around here.
3 - Because we're a bunch of hoodlums
4 - Jusun. He's around whenever there are different changes, and I'm sure he supervises or something. Usually in the feedback area.

1) I would think it's because of the main interests of createBlog, and who it appeals to. Look at the demographics of other forums with different main interests, such as a video game forum, a hip hop forum, an anime forum, etc.
2) Examples? Suspensions are looked at individually. More than likely, there's more to it, or unfortunately, something was missed.
3) We needed more moderators. We had about three People Staff before the hiring...
4) If you can prove yourself, your warning level will go down. Also, you usually have to control your behavior for about 2 weeks before your warning will go down.
5) He comes and goes. He's got other things to keep him busy besides createBlog.

1) who knows? maybe there are more in other places that you haven't seen. or they don't have a greater interest in this myspace/xanga/lj/blogger stuff.
2) maybe mods or whatever don't always catch it. i've been almost warned once, but not literally, when i see other people do the same thing and i don't think they got dissed.

- I have no idea, but if it makes you feel better, the "handful of black ppl on this site"
are probably some of our most awesome members in my opinion. Explain to me, why I'm the only asian in my area, and am expected to know karate and speak every single asian language. Dunno, just happens. It's not a big deal.

- Because some people repeatedly do stupid things, and others just do it once. Some people know they are doing wrong, but do it anyway. Some people just do it once and don't notice they are doing something stupid or have a moment of weakness. We try to cut people slack as often as we can, but the people who are suspended usually have to do something extreme, so a lot doesn't get missed, but I'm sure some do. If you have any concerns about a certain member, it helps to PM a mod. seriously.

- Well, considering we just finished a hiring session. . . Don't worry, mods come and go and pretty soon we're low again and in need of more [hence, hiring session].

I have no idea. Why am I the only one in their 30's on this site? Am I the only one my age that blogs? That visits forums? I doubt it. I am WAY in the minority here (as far as age goes).

I think more people are suspended than is believed to be. It isn't something we like to announce. Having said that, there have been times where it seems like certain individuals are getting less punishment than others. Every mod has their way of doing things. Having said that, there are rules and my hope is that with this newly beefed up staff those rules can be more evenly carried out. Not that anyone likes dishing out punishment. I know I don't.

As it's been mentioned above, we just had a major hiring round. Staff, unfortunately comes and goes though and the numbers will more than likely drop a tad. I'm hoping the majority sticks it out though. Also, with the design forums, staff is desperately needed. People have questions, we now have the staff to answer those design related questions.

Funny you should mention that. (Not about your own warning, necessarily), but we are actually in the process of going through warned individuals and attempting to ensure that warn levels aren't just sitting there. This is a valid point though. If ever you think you deserve to have your warn level decreased, please PM me or any of the Staff. It's an unfortunate thing to overlook.

Well, he's got a full plate at the moment, as far as I know. There is a lot that needs to be done though and I'm sure he'll come through. He always does. Try to think about all the work and effort he's put into this site, it'll make his lack of presence easier, if that makes any sense.

Hes had some personal problems, and he did annouce that he was wanting cB4 on its way, so perhaps he is trying to put that together as well. As Rebecca said, he always come through.

I've had quite a few people that I know ask this exact question actually, I don't really know what to say about it in all honesty. I hope with the new staff they figure out a new set of rules so perhaps people can all be treated equally on no matter how different the person. If people are going to be more lenient then others on staff, then some people are going to figure it out that they need to suck up to the more lenient person than the person that sticks to the rules the most.

- Because they haven't joined? Not really sure what to do about that.

- I think a lot of people make a big show of being suspended, whereas others dont. Also, quite a lot of people HAVE been suspended at one poitn or another, but others have been repeatedly, because they refuse to learn, or get bitter and lash back or whatever. And also, people can break the same rules in different ways, and with different results. Like spamming. A conversation in a thread is techincally the same offense as a major spam bombing attack, but obviously merit different punishments. Likewise, a friendly conversation that has drited from the topic and just needs to be nudged back on is not the same as someting which invloves member bashing as well, for example.

Why should it matter? It's not like cB is discriminating, right? Get your facts straight. There were some I've come across here. I mean, back when I was first modded (2004, BABY!), we had a moderator who was African American. Sorry, but I thought this was one of the most ignorant questions that I've seen today... Or week.

So that there can be more moderators to moderate EVERYWHERE on the forum. Therefore, other members who do the "same thing" will receive rightful consequences. Honestly, cB's pretty big. If anything, there weren't enough moderators. And back when I was a mod, I disappeared a lot. That was bad. Now there's more mods. This is good. :D Of course, this is just from my own theories. IDK about what really goes on behind backstage anymore, so

If you have a problem, seriously, just PM a moderator. That's what they're THERE for. Please don't create a thread about a complaint when it could be easily resolved behind the scenes, hence the PM feature.

I think the real question here is, why do you care? It truly is his own business and truthfully, he told me personally that he had planned this all along: he wanted to strengthen the moderating team and forum enough so that he didn't have to even post or be here, where everything would be left up to the moderators and administrators themselves. And that he would be working behind the scenes, on the actual forum itself.

If you have a problem, email him. Just click his username and scroll down, then click "Send an email" and he will respond.

1. Because more Black people haven't been exposed to the site. There's no real culutral bias, just a cultural imbalance. That's hardly a conspiracy of a web-based community.

2. Good question.

3. Totalitarianism brings order. They don't want this site turning into a free for all like Illesty.com once was. Do I agree with it? Ehh, I'm 50/50.

4. You're either overtly crass and obnoxious or you just rub people the wrong way. You'll always been on someone's bad side, even if it is a mod. Just look at Jason, he still annoys people on this site.

5. I don't know, but I never really cared. Back when my boy Suave ran Illesty, he posted as much as I did. Different approach, I suppose.

JL: It’s unintentional. I used to be much more active in the earlier days of cB, when it was still called Xangans. I used to interact with members at a regular basis. I remember being pent up in my dorm working on cB, and how I stopped going to my classes for two weeks and ended up missing a midterm.
But these days I try to balance everything: being active in student leadership, spending time with friends, and cB, which usually means I only have time to work on the backend stuff more than anything else. What’s unfortunate is it actually takes quite a lot of time, but most people don’t see it.
I guess another reason I might come off stand-offish is because I like to separate my internet and real life. I rarely talk about what I do online even among my closer friends. For the few that know about cB, they think I’m a hired help, not the guy that started it all. It’s all good. =)
