I'm on cB periodically and I realize how different the atmosphere is since I started out here, and in general, since my last obsessive visits here. (I'm not too sure if any of you remember me. I haven't changed my obnoxious screenname since I first registered.)

I'm wondering how the older members feel cB has changed over the last year, two years, etc. What has happened? What new is there?
I hope that this can bring back some entertaining memories from the past as well.
Reflection time? I hope so. Haha.

JORDAN!!!!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

To be honset, I was thinking about this earlier, and I cam to the conclusion that I don;t really think Cb HAS changed all that much.

I think it's down to the fact that my perspective has changed... because I've been around for a while now, i tend to view things from the viewpoint of the past, which means it seems really different. It's still groups of members having fun a getting to know each other, and what not, but because they aren't the people i 'grew up with', if you like, i notice the differences in the way they talk, post, etc.

Also, there is a LOT less drama around nowadays, especially since the Feedback forum and Mod performance threads were introduced. Now, there is a clear way for everyone to express their concerns. In the past, little things tended to dissolve into all out warfare. haha.

Hate thread and Cb revolution, anyone? Good times...

Also, because cb has been around for a long time, there seem to be a lot more 'memory' threads around, which kind of perpetuates the feeling of change... i guess that because Cb HAS a real history now, it's possible to reflect on it, whereas before there wasnt really all that much to look back on.

JAMES!

Ahaha. Damn, good times. People staff ey?

Haha, oh, the drama. I've realized how stupid it all was. Online wars? Maybe it makes great leaders.

I don't know much more to say. It was always exciting to see something going on every second: some sort of tension.
I guess I grew from it in some way or another. Another experience added to the list.

P.S. Has anyone seen Mindy around?

People staff for a good 4 days now, mister. I command respect now!

You know, i miss the drama. I don't care that it's 'just online'. It's FUN.

And I haven't spoken to Mindy in an age, I really ought to Facebook her. And Brie. God... i do miss them.

JORDANNNNNNNNN!!!!

The last time I talked to you, I think you were kind of annoyed with me for draggting you into the middle of something. Sorry about that. Hahaha.

I think it has changed a lot. Intelligent conversation, though it seems to be making a bit of a comeback, has decreased a lot. The maturity level has dropped considerably, and the cliques make even less sense now. It seems like the people used to be cooler based on design talent and interesting posts, whereas now it seems to be more centered around who's saying stupid crap in chat all the time.

And at some point, there was the whole thing where people got so scared to post even borderline spam in topics by being slightly off topic, that everything became unbearably dull. And as a result, most people are now unbearably dull.

I miss the times of all of you guys. And I miss the drama. Screw seriousness, it was fun. I knew how stupid it was at the time, but it was still amusing, and that's really all that matters to me.

I think you've got a good point, I agree.

Oh, and Jordan! :waves:

Umm but yeah...I think it's changed a decent amount. I don't come on as much as I used to but I kind of lurk more than post now, hah...but I'm still around. But yeah, the drama was entertaining to say the least, heh..

We should so have a forum for senior members, like our senior common room at school.

Well, no actually we shouldn't really, it bein gutterly devisive and all.

You know, I'm not entirely convinced that there ARE fewer cool people around now. Rather, I just dont think I make the effort to get to know new people as much as I did before i had a group of close cb friends... If i really worked on that, im sure it COULD seem more 'old cb-ish' again. I mean, if i really look back at old topics that i remember, they weren't any more 'mature', but rather I knew and liked most of the people making the posts...

Yeah, but the thing is, a lot of the reason we got to know people before is that they made themselves seem worth knowing. Now, okay, they may be interesting, but if they don't post anything interesting, I don't care.

But at the same time, I was actively LOOKING to find people interesting, because I needed to find a social group on here. Now, I don't have that need, so I don't really seek interesting posts out... I look for usernames of people I know, assuming that they will be most interesting.

I do occaisionally notice new people (like Kurd Jam, recently), but I dont really try and draw them in, or get to know them... I will try.

Also, I wondered the other day, what the HELL would i have down with my spare time in the last 2 years if i hadn't had cb... I mean, add up the time i've spent casually surfing forums, and it must add up to literally days or weeks worth of time overall...

As a new member I have to admit that I find a lot more interesting the older members than most of the new ones.

What pissses me off is that some people create accounts just to post their problem and then they never post again.
So, it's not surprising that the old memebers don't care to get to know new people.

^ See, new people like you I really like.

And yes, i don't appreciate it when people post one thread in relationships and then leave... but then, i guess if it's what they need, then fair enough

Oh, see for me, I was just drawn to people at first. I didn't want a social group- I wanted to get my post count and PPD up for the xanga tracker, then leave. But it was actually fun here, so I stayed.

Now, yes, there is the occasional fascinating person who catched my attention, but people like that are rare, and usually leave really quickly.

Honestly, though, that's why I like BR now. It may not be full of the most fun people ever, but at least they carry on mature conversation. So many people here now just seem like clones of each other, and it's tedious. Drive by posting really is a problem, too.I like conversing on the boards. And so long as the conversation is is inclusive so that anyone could jump in and not be terribly confused, I thoroughly think it should be allowed. And I think I'm rambling now, so nevermind all of that. Must get back to my essays.

Oh, and yes, I like new people like her too. People who actually have something to say, and don't just go...uhhh I don't know I'm new. Because that's completely useless.

See, when I went to blogring, I didn't find them any more mature, I just found them dull, because I didn't know them... If I had made the effort, I might have been more into it. In the same way, if i got to know the people here, i might see the community in a different way

Mature in the sense that people typically do more than just answer the question and move on. But I guess that was more over the summer. Now it's pretty dull there too.

But back when I chose cB over BR, it wa the opposite, because obivously I did choose cB over BR. But if I were to have made that decision with things the way are, I likely would have chosen BR over cB.

You know i think that was my problem. i was on br for 3 years and i left to here beacsue i was tired of being just "Death.Star.Raven." instead of Diana. Maybe i let my shyness get the best of me.

Maybe..you never know..

The problem is that although we have many new members, the only ones that seem to post a lot are the old members. And I'm not talking about members that post their problem and never come back. I'm talking about members that have NEVER posted. Not even in Sandbox!

Btw, I had once visited blogring.com and I didn't like it at all.

That may have been the main difference for me; I no longer care about layouts at all anymore, so although I'm a global mod there, I can't even vouch for the quality of their design content.

in order to get codes for layouts you have to be a member?

And even if they only want a layout, is it so tiring to post once in a while? just say your opinion when somebody asks for it.
And I'm not talking about debates.
There are threads like: "Which is your favourite colour?".
