I've read through this thread, thinking it would be interesting; boy, was I sorely disappointed. Most of the responses are along the lines of "because I have to" or "because my [insert family member here] wakes me up". Sure, a few gave intriguing, well-thought-out answers like "my family" or "God", but as for the other answers, I have yet to decide if those posters:
  1. were trying to be funny;
  2. completely missed the point of the question;
  3. didn't feel like actually thinking of a stimulating answer (which is, sadly, the truth for about 90% of CB's posts); or
  4. lead really, really depressing and pathetic existences.
I'm hoping for (a), but let's just say I'm not holding my breath.

sadly for me, it's d. i really want to get the hell out of here and find a reason to wake up everyday, but i just can't find one.

I wake up so I can do fun things like web design. It's pretty much all I think and talk about most days. But then I have school (which starts tomorrow >_<) which is important, so I work hard and have a 4.0, but I still don't particularly like waking up to go to school.

I'm hoping for (a), but let's just say I'm not holding my breath.

Fair enough -

I wouldn't say I lead a depressing life and I'm certainly far from pathetic, but sometimes life feels very depressing. Several times I find myself not dreading the moment I wake up, but dreading the moment I have to get out of my bed. My life is more often than not utterly exhausting and the thought of going outside the house, into the city where I moved six or so months ago feels cold, friendless and unsatisfying. Sure, I adore my kid and that should be enough for anyone to wake up but wouldn't it be a marvel to want to get out into the world because of me? Because I want to, and not out of obligation?

So why do I do it? Why get out that comfortable, warm bed that I can lay in, day dream in and not have to deal with anything?

Hope. Everyday brings a new opportunity. I'm not talking about a job opportunity (although that can happen to) or an opportunity to find a great deal on a pair of shoes (not that I'd be apt to pass that up). Nothing like that. I hope every morning that when I rise out of bed, I am going to see something, experience something, maybe meet someone and live all the more for it. Human interaction is something that terrifies me more than I'd ever really want to admit. It's why I'm on the computer all the time, other than being on the computer for necessary reasons (ie, work, school etc).

This morning I arose with the hope that when I see my mother again (when I get home) she will have more than the somber, sullen and defeated look on her face that she typically has. Maybe I'll run across a funny joke, a good recipe to share, a great song to listen to or a piece of beautiful art I could show her. I will have made a difference in someone's life. That is something to wake up for. That is something I wake up for.

I'm not going to get deep into why I wake up for my child. Quite frankly, that is obvious (for those who know me, know how much that kid is my entire universe). What I'm looking for, what I'm waking up for is inclusive of that, but also a great deal more than that.

Bottom line, life can seem so sh*tty but there's beauty in it and I'm going to wake up every morning and hopefully discover more of that beauty.

Tommorow, I'm waking up because it's my birthday. tongue.gif (Just kidding)

The reason in which I wake up (quite early -- 5:00 AM) on a daily basis is so I can live my life to the fullest, and so I can experience different aspects of life, whether that be education, friendship, love, bettering myself, helping/giving to others, etc.

This is a cute thread, by the way. =)
