I'm well aware of what A&F means. What part of my post meant that I didn't know what it meant? :P

I'm just wondering what the actual company is called, that controls the other labels, unless it is in fact, under the Abercrombie & Fitch label.

And it's not so much that I loathe A&F -- don't get me wrong or anything. People can wear what they want. As long as they don't continue to flaunt it in my face and try to convert me back to wearing that stuff! Must. Not. Conform.

And correction on my post, for pandamonium -- I didn't mean a company that makes $60,000 in a day. I meant a single store that makes $60,000 in a day. wink.gif

Yeah, I shop at A&F and Hollister, basically half my wardrobe is made up of those. But I never pay more than like...$40 for anything I get from there. Usually I just buy the stuff that's on sale in the back. I'm more likely to shop at Abercrombie, the kids version, than A&F though since their stuff is cheaper and basically the same thing.

I've never thought of Hollister or A&F as "preppy" either. I just get that stuff b/c it's comfortable and I like the way their stuff looks...when it's on sale shifty.gif . Haha. Usually if I'm feeling preppy I go to J. Crew, Lacoste, or even Ralph Lauren.

The other day I was in Hollister and there were two little girls...probably 6 or 7 showing their big sister which shirt they wanted to get and each girl was wearing a shirt with a big "Abercrombie" plastered across their chest and a pair of ripped jeans. Kinda sad that it's come to that.

I'm pretty sure that it's under the Abercrombie & Fitch label. I remember reading it on the card thing where they had put my receipt in....

Some things are kinda cute, but they all are ridiculously priced. I don't know about you, but I'd rather get like 4 tanks from Macy's than one from Hollister/A&F. I mean, what's the difference anyways? A little symbol of an bird or a moose? pinch.gif Seriously!

Truthfully, I do own some things from there, but I don't even shop at those stores anymore. Why? Like I said, the prices are ridiculous and I'd rather not look like everybody else at my school. Hollister/A&F are preppy stores, and yeah, I don't really like it because everybody is so into it. Now, I'm not one of those people who purposely find ways to look different from everybody else, but it seems to me that all the girls that wear the clothes from these stores look the same. Straightened blonde hair (brunettes usually have highlights), usually skinny, short, very tan, wear the exact same outfits. I'm just not one of those people. ermm.gif I'd rather have my own sense of fashion than to look like one of those models, whom everybody tries to look like. Honestly people, it's overrated.

eta; And I heard some bad things about how they hire, but I don't know... may just be rumors.

i just want people to realize this.
abercrombie (for kids) is the same price as hollister.
a&f (for adults) is more expensive than abercrombie and hollister.
so overall, hollister would actually be the cheapest.

^ i thought so too. i heard that at A&F, the employees and stuff would judge you on how pretty you were or something and if you weren't pretty enough, they wouldn't hire you. I think they use to not hire asians or something, but i think they've loosened up. I've seen asians working at Hollister. I'm not sure about A&F or abercrombie since i don't go there often. But, AE will always be the best _smile.gif

^ You have to be asked to work there, basically. And I was paid $6 when I worked at Hollister... what the efffff. I quit after a month.

I mean, A&F, Ruehl, and Hollister are all under the same line (what is it called, anyway? A&F?). Same for Banana Republic, which owns Gap and Old Navy. This goes for Express as well, since Express is a Limited Brand, joint with: The Limited, Express for Men, Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, and White Candle Barn (something like that sweating.gif ). I mean, I thought that at the very least A&F co.'s pay would be at least competitive with other companies. Guess not. ^______^;;

i thought you meant what is a&f xD sorry.

WOAH hold up on that michelle. i dont think that a&f judges on how pretty or were. they hired my cousin who is asian, and i dont think they're that low, i've seen lots of asian works in the past, so i dont think they're racist about it.

my cousin works at a&f and she's paid minimum [8 dollar something or whatever xD] because she isn't aloud to work more than 4-6 hours. XD.gif

i agree that a&f and hollister are ridiculously priced, $40 for a cami top is just too much.
but. half my walldrobe is filled with hco stuff pinch.gif but but they only cost like $10-$30. i think their designs are actually really cute. yes people all look the same wearing clothing from there but putting a little something different while wearing those clothing makes a whole new look. that's what i think _unsure.gif

yeah i see asians work at hollister now though. but that's what i heard a long time ago. times have changed.

new years resolution; to buy stuff that isn't just stamped with a logo. i own stuff with just the word HOLLISTER on it. time for a change. they should stop making shirts with just plain words on it.

so what your cousin isnt pretty? lol or asians arent good looking ahah....

but for hollister, when i was hired i applied for "impact" which usually works in the back setting up clothes. or you can be a "brand rep" which now is changed to "model" which is working on the floor and helping people. people can apply for whatever they want but some people are like automaticalled picked for "model" if they are really good looking usually. but modeling can be a boring job cause you are basically standing around for 5 hours.

Hmm I have to agree. I guess I've never really been to worried about price. Although sometimes it is a bit outrageous. People only shop there because other people shop there that they want to fit in with.

Eh, I like clean-cut polos. The whole destroyed look on polos makes me sad.

And it sort of sucks how if you just buy one polo, there's bound to be twenty other girls in the school with the same one. But layering makes it all good! ...if you layer well.

My older brother's a model (as in store representative) for Hollister. A friend of mine asked me to ask him to "hook him up" with a job, and all he said was, "Ask him if he's interested in selling his soul." For Hollister, as far as I know, the pay sucks (at the beginning at least) and the hours are terrible.

ahah even though i shop there, i have to agree
their prices are wayy too high. usually 1 tshirt at a different store would be like, idn, 10 bucks? but in af/hollister, one shirt is like 30, and a belt is 40 bucks
and their knits = way to tight, i dont understand how people can fit in those

My gosh, YES! I know exactly how you feel! I was like " how skinny do they expect people to be!?". To wear their clothes comfortably i'd probably have to get like an XXL or something! Which is crazy, because i don't even weigh all that much. seriously.

Yeah, I heard that too! And it was totally true. They didn't have any asians! But I think the company heard about that and probably changed their policies since then... because I saw a really hot asian guy working at Hollister the other day. shifty.gif

Oh, you know what drives me insane besides the ridicuously tiny sizes? (basically for girls who never reached puberty and have no shape whatsoever) Girls who wear brand name clothes that are waaaaay too small for them. Seriously, you know you don't fit into a medium, so don't even try. It doesn't look good. Get a bigger size! If there is no bigger size... it's just an bird/moose logo for crying out loud! Go somewhere else and find something that is actually flattering.

eta; Wow. I'm on a mean streak. I feel somewhat bad. Eh, I'll get over it. Just felt the need to rant.
