I can't get over the feeling it was more of a pantomime than a real judicial event.

He wasn't judged for all of his crimes, but for the single one that had more mediatic repercussion ( crimes against the Marsh Arabs aren't even mentioned, for example ). The execution is an event for the history books, and is also rather unlikely to have any rellevance in the current Iraq.

The fighting has transcended the fight between occupying forces and the Baathist resistance, and has spread into a more internal fighting between sects / power groups which have little to do with the deposed regime.

The guy who tapped it has been arrested, according to the news.

Not all the innocent Iraqis that have died because of us. They're probably going to end up having a civil war, regardless of if we're there or not. They have become reliant on Saddam's leadership so I think his death is going to bring a huge change.

i'm sorry, but the fact that NOBODY, not even our biggest ally Britain, agree with the way we dealt with the excecution of saddam is quite sad. in my opinion, we should've executed him in america with a lethal injection. i'm against the death penalty, but the injection is a lot more humane and civilized than a damn public hanging. what is this, the french revolution where everyone crowds around while the king is gullotined? mmm, i don't think so.

i read the Iraq Report in school and it basically says that the american military has been focusing on killing the Sunnis. The Baath party, if you don't know, was the political party that Saddam was apart of (a Sunni party). Don't you think it's a bit too coincidental that americans have been trying to decrease the number of Sunnis to lessen the violence? they obviously didn't want the Sunnis to riot as much when saddam was executed.
