I watched this movie with my sister when I was little and fell in love with it, since I have read hte book about 2 times....and Im wondering what everyone else thinks of this fairy tale?
I personally think the book is better htan the movie, as most book-movie comparisons go. What do you think? <3 rememberTHEforgotten |

I've seen the movie and read the book, I agree with you, I think the book is better.
But, the movie is just too cute. I saw the movie when I was about eleven. it's one of the few older movies I really enjoy. |

Im a complete movie buff, old and new. The movie added so many visuals, and usually seeing the movie first would have taken from the reading experience...but I think that the movie just made it easier to understand/visualize the book for myself. Both were good..but i still love hte book lol.
I want to get my hands on Buttercups Baby, I got to read the first 3 chapters of it becuase they were placed into the back of my copy of The Princess Bride. Now I want to see if its as good as The Princess Bride. I dont even know where to look though...

Lol yeah, originally written by S. Morgenstern and later abridged by William Golding. I recommend you read it if you liked the movie...its pretty good.

lol dont worry about it. I didnt know about the book until a couple years ago when I was digging through my sisters bookshelf becuase i was bored lol. I was in complete shock...but I love it lol.

The book is so light and comical. I love it. William Goldman is a bloody genius. The movie is hilarious as well. I love how exaggeratedly unimaginative Buttercup is, which manifests itself when Goldman describes how she called her horse, "Horse." I don't know why, but I cracked up at that. I'm weird. I know... -_-

Have read it a few times around, and I keep liking it more after every read. The combination of adventure, humor, cheesy romance, evil villians, twists in the plot, yet more adventure and humor, sword fights and an open ending is nearly perfect.
I am not fond of comparing movies to the books they're based upon since I went to the movies to watch Troy (Someday I'll explain why I despise that movie with the passion of one million supernovas). However, I'd say the adaptation is pretty good and captures well the scent of the original text without totally derailing the story. Thumbs up.

I love this book..
Bought it after watching the movie.. and yeah, in ways it of course is better then the movie. But yeah....i loved it...a lot actually. def one of my favorite books of all time. It explains more of the relationship between Buttercup and Westley, epsecially in the beginning.... love it =) |

I've never actually read the book, but I have seen the movie. Most of the time the movie of a book is different, and the book has it's main sources.

I thought the book was wonderful... and a lot more intelligent than the movie. Just thinking about it makes me want to read it again!
