I wear glasses, I've been rockin em for 7 years now .. but people have suggested me to get contacts. My mom says it's hard to adjust it and stuff so she advises me it isn't the right thing to do .. so keep wearing glasses .. I hate wearing glasses because of many reasons. When I do sports activities, a basketball once hit my glasses and ruined some parts of the lenses so my mom had to pay $300 to get it repaired. I just think contacts would be better, but I've also heard it can damage your eyes badly. what are your thoughts and why

Hey as long as you maintain proper hygiene when handling your contact lens, it's not that easy to get infected.

I've been wearing contact lens for almost 3 years now.

Yeah, I've been wearing contacts since the sixth grade (I'm a senior now, if no one knows XD.gif), and I've never had eye problems. shrug.gif Mrm. Although I think I look better with my glasses, they're quite the bother sometimes, especially when I'm laying down or when they simply slip off my nose. pinch.gif

Man. i've come to the conclusion that anything > glasses. I despise my glasses. I find them a nusiance. I am grateful that I do have them, because, I like being able to see, but they're just a pain.

Parents. Responsibility. Maturity. Blah blah blah.

I even said i'd pay for them!

My mom's excuse is my allergies. My dad says it's a way too expensive vanity.

But i'm tempted to call and make an appt. myself.

I figure i'll bring it up again...when the time is right.

Actually, in many cases (I believe, anyways..), using contacts helps your eyes, if used properly of course (in which case, I would have no doubt that you wouldn't). You should explain to them why it's not just vanity. sad.gif

Man, when it comes to something so serious as my eyeballs, i'd take tons of care with them. I like being able to see. I'd just like being able to see without annoying glasses.

But, man. Now I do want them. I shall talk with them. Ty.

It pretty much depends on which contacts you get.

I wear contacts and they're not hard to adjust to at all. I can't even feel them most of the time.

contacts are better in my opinion.
glasses bothered my nose a lot,
and although contacts took a few weeks to get used to being put on,
eventually it felt like nothing was in my eye and i could put them on in 2 seconds every morning.
you won't lose them either. :)

I've been wearing contacts for a while now, and it's not bad. If you'd like to try it, go for it, but don't give up after the first day because it takes repitition to get used to putting them in.

That's a great point.
My optomotrist told me to start wearing contacts one hour a day, increasing with one hour each day. My eyes adjusted to them slowly but very effectively; so eventually, I am able to wear my contacts the whole day happy.gif

Not true...at least I don't think so xP I've heard stories like how they get stuck in there or something.

It also seems like a lot of upkeep, contacts. Glasses are just quick and easy.

I like quick and easy, but thats just me. mellow.gif

I love using contacts, it's so much better than wearing glasses cause the sides of the glasses are blurry and for me, I keep on breaking my glasses. The only thing I hate about contacts is that they hurt my eye after a while.

Well no shit something can happen if you use them incorrectly. You could say the same thing about.. cars or something. mellow.gif

Even if you do use them correctly, things can happen... even if they're not really damaging your eye. Many times (even if I wore them correctly), it would move up to the corner of my eye. And you do NOT want them to go there. :x Such a pain to take out.

One isn't really better than the other. It all depends on which one suits you best. :)

If you're wearing contacts like 20 hours a day, of course it will be harmful to your eyes. >_>

I wear contacts, but sometimes they get annoying =/. Anyway, how does it make your eyes worse? I get worried when people say that.

^ Yeah, that's actually more of the reason as to why my parents wanted me to get them, and it has helped. Although they're just internet sites, I know that the links I listed above mention that, too.
