when i hold it, i keep my pointer finger up. it gives me a bit more power, but hurts in the long run.

That's.... not good. I did it once when I was a beginner and I like stunned by index finger for a few seconds. I never did it again. pinch.gif

At the end of the season last year, I started to receive pain in the area between my index finger and my thumb. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was a muscle of some sort of another I think? Supposedly, it was because I gripped my racket too tightly. Anyways, I started to pad/wrap my hand, and that really helped. I'm not sure if there's an easy solution like that for you. You kind of just have to change it by yourself, as difficult as that is. _dry.gif

I LOVE badminton. Lots of people think it's lame, but I think it's fun. Our school doesn't have a team, though.

where do u play? how hard do u hit it?
my timing is always bad to play outside... i play with my brother at the park and when we play its windy so we play with a birdie that has a large "nose" makes it weight more... but when we lose that we both are running all over the place biggrin.gif

^ it's actually more strenuous than tennis. If you ever train, you'd know. I have friends who play both tennis and badminton, and they say that badminton is so much tougher.

Badminton is tougher because you get a better cardio workout (running) since it is the fastest racket sport. Tennis is slower, but needs more power behind each swing. So it's a matter of endurance for each. Oh yeah, and badminton has more of a variety of shots, which take a while to master while you can only do basically one type of "shot" with the ball being able to hit the floor and all in tennis. In addition, badminton has a smaller racket, which demands a better hand-eye coordination.

i play tennis a ton & when i first tried badminton i was horrible! cuz like in tennis you NEVER use your wrist & in badminton it's all wrist i guess? soo i was pretty bad. but now; after doing it in PE i have improved. luckily i can pick up on sports pretty fast so i don't have to embarrass myself. happy.gif

I can do both. We're doing a badminton unit for P.E. right now and I like it. I like tennis too though but I don't see any one of them much more difficult than the other.

Badminton is hardcore.
I used to be one of those people who thought it was super lame, but I recently got the oppurtunity to watch a friend's badminton game against another school, and holy crap- it's INTENSE. Your reflexes have to be amazing, and I imagine it's gotta be tough to learn all the different swing techniques... from under the birdie, next to the birdie, over the birdie, etc...

cry.gif I wish I was good at badminton.

I never understood when people claimed that "badminton's not a sport". Even from nobody telling me that it was one, I could tell when I was younger just from watching people that it required a hell of a lot more work than normal. And plus, our badminton team runs more than any other sport, even football.

You have a badminton team at your school? That sounds like so much fun. Haha.

I suck at badminton, though. I can never get to it in time to hit it. sad.gif
