Haha, I'm really not much of a writer but it's just at random, arbitrary, and, may I note, rare times I find myself writing just to jot down a few thoughts into words. Here are two themes I wrote on that I would like to share with you guys. First one is entitled 'Dreams' and the second, 'First Impressions.' I know this forum is much overlooked, but comments and criticisms would be much appreciated!
(1) Dreams Dreams December 14, 2006 5:47 AM Dreams. What is/are your dream(s)? I am positively certain most of you have been encountered by the common question 'What is/are your dream(s)?' by your peers, elders, or whoever it was. Now, let me make this crystal clear, I'm not talking about a dream you have while you're deep asleep; however, the dream itself. To be more specific, your goal, ambition, aspiration, and simply your desire in life. These past couple of weeks, I've come to a realization how crucial it is for an individual to live with a dream. One is and will, ever, amount to nothing without one. It's what drives, motivates, and impel us to do what we do. It's what enables us to get up everytime we hit rock-bottom. It is necessary that we think more expansive, AND more minimal. We need to think more expansive in a way that enables us to look forward to the future and see the bigger picture. But, we also need to think more minimal in a way that enables us to look at the bigger picture and precisely decide what we want to do with our lives (a tad confusing, I know). The world we live in, and even with the technology and available resources, innumerable amounts of teenagers are dream-less. Basically, they have no idea what they want to be or do with their lives. Those teenagers just have no motivation in life, and eventually end up feeling sorry for themselves. On a brighter note, it isn't too late. We still have a future. We just need to take a day to sit down, and consider the following questions carefully. - What activities do I enjoy engaging in? - What am I passionate about? - What can I see myself doing in the next 5 or 10 years? Once you have figured out the answers to those previously stated questions, you need to start working. If you fail, try again. If you fail again, try again. Keep on trying. Be persistent. Never give up. When you fall, and hit rock-bottom, think about your dream, and get up. Use it to motivate you and guide you to be what you want to be and to do what you want to do. Nothing good in this world comes easy. It's all acquired with hard dedicated work, sweat, persistency, and determination. There will be individuals who will attempt to knock you down, and may succeed at times, and all depends on whether you decide to get up or not. (Ah, f**k, I'm hitting a writers block. I presume this is what happens when you try to write at 6:28 in the morning? Anyways, back on topic). If you look back on history, and even now, all the acclaimed and brilliant individuals certainly had atleast one thing in common: they had dreams. They had a clear idea of what they wanted to do and who they wanted to be; nevertheless, they surely didn't fulfill their dream overnight. It took plenty of hours, days, and years of work and dedication. I sincerely and genuinely hope you will take this material seriously, and think earnestly about your dream (if you don't have one yet). If are aware of your dream(s), I candidly advise and wish you will not give up and work towards it. It doesn't matter if the people around you don't believe in you. What matters most is that you believe in yourself. If you believe, you are able and fully capable. Now, once again, what is/are your dream(s)? (2) First Impressions I find it very pivotal to maintain a good and friendly relationship with those around you, whether it is your best friend since your single digit years, the person you met yesterday, or, even, your lunch lady. I once recall reading something along the lines of “first impressions are also your last impressions.” Some people remember you with the impression they had when they first met you. It is essential to maintain a good status with your peers, because you never know how long you guys are going to keep in touch. “First impressions can make or break your first meeting with someone new. First impressions may be your only chance to make an impression before someone gets to know the real you.” I definitely concur with this statement; if someone has had a bad first impression of you, they are going to be more reluctant and disinclined to approach you, or initiate a conversation. Life is all about networks, which brings the point, again, on maintaining a good relationship with those around you. For example, let’s say, in the future, you are somewhat in a troubled state and need help from an old friend, John, of yours. Let’s take a look out the two scenarios listed below: Scenario 1) The last time you conversed with John was two years ago; however, this was due to an argument. On top of that, the argument was over a petty subject. Scenario 2) The last time you conversed with John was two years ago; however; this was due to both of you remotely moving to different locations due to your occupations. You and John had a good farewell dinner together. John would be definitely more willing and disposed to lending out a hand with your struggles, and help you out if scenario 2 was the case. On the other hand, taking scenario 1 into account this time, John will be disinclined and averse on helping you. Think twice, three, and four times before you speak. Speech made in anger is the best speech you’ll ever regret. “A person’s speech is often the first gauge by which others judge him. Until they get to know an individual, most will think what they hear from the person is what they are.” I find this quote to be 100% accurate. Always pay attention to the words coming out of your mouth, and how it might affect the other person(s). There are so many more I wish I could write about; it’s real difficult delivering the thoughts in your head to writing, well at least for me. I sincerely wish I was a better writer and be competent enough to elaborate and articulate on my thoughts. The last paragraph was completely arbitrary and irrelevant to the topic. I’m tired. 4:42 A.M. I suppose I’m done for today. Remember, maintain a good relationship with those around you! |
