how would you feel about having a 14 year old friend having sex with her 16 year old boyfriend?
the age difference isn't a lot, i know, but for some reason every other one of my friends are against her for making this decision. i'm just on the fence. is it such a big deal that all of the sudden people will turn their backs on you? or is everyone overreacting? |

^ Yeah, underage sex is illegal.
I think your friends should respect her decision. It's her own choice They're overreacting. But she shouldn't really be having sex at age 14.

As long as you trust/love the person and know what you're getting in to. It's her decision, but if you feel odd about her having sex--you should talk to her about it. This kinda thing shouldn't be easily wasted.

see, this is what i don't understand; who wants to have it. because he's my friend and since the first time we met he's been edge. it's kind of dumb i guess, how he's devoted to being straight edge (and used to be vegetarian) until he met her

Nothing you can do about it. Make sure she uses condoms and checks herself for STDS or anything else. Everyone's a hypocrite when it comes to sex, but unless her vagina is a drive through service no one should judge anyone else.

Well, straight edge or not, he has a penis. And he's 16 years old, so... hormones, girl right there... things just kind of go on from there. That's not an excuse or anything, but y'know. I do think 14 is a bit too young for a girl to be having sex, though.

Oh man, I can just picture a 14-year-old getting pregnat and ruining her life. Good luck to that! :) There's a reason why KIDS should not be having sex.

i know this girl that started having sex when she was 13 and continues to do so... currently with her 18 year old "boyfriend" like every single day. i heard that they dont use condoms cuz sometimes "they run out"......... SO my advice would be to make sure she knows everything about birth control/stds and whatnot because idk if you can really stop her now... just make sure shes being relatively safe (tell her all the ways! get a pill! condoms or diaphragms! etc!) and be there to support her - i mean yeah, u should try to stop her... but just try and stay a good friend

14 is still a bit young in my opinion, but then again if they both know what they're doing, and the potential consequences of it...then it shouldn't be THAT big of a deal. Oh yes, always use protection.
