I just feel uncomfortable Options

Ok well you know, since I moved here, everything was so different. When I chill with white people sometimes at lunch/school, I feel umcomfortable because I'm the only asian among the group. Most asians I know (before where I used to live) hung out with just asians. (No matter what gender). But here, it's not like that. Asians girls be getting picked up by the white boys, black boys be flirting with white girls, this whole "race" thing has completely changed and have changed my perspective on this high school in a quiet suburban town. Before, there would be segregation (not saying race hated other race), I mean a person that's asian would only hang out with mostly asians and be chillin wit them a lot of times.

and just make friends for what you would traditionaly look for in a friend

Because there aren't many that are freshmen or sophomores. Mostly the asians in my high school, they are upper classmen (Juniors-Seniors). I think chillin wit a Junior or Senior as a freshman is not a smart thing to do .. especially when its not possible to have any classes with them, so its kinda hard to see them and get 'along? There are about 345 freshman students. I'm approximately, closely guessing that there are only about 14 asians in the grade. They all probably chill with white people though, it ain't just right for me.

my question is WHY ARE YOU SO FRIGGIN RACIST? boo hoo you feel uncomfortable because people dont hang out with the same race GET OVER IT. not everyone in the world is going to be as closed minded as you are and just have friends of the same race. People now in days want to hang out and be diverse, friendships are not based on the color of thier skin they are based on thier personality. if you think its by race i will be the first one to inform you that you will not have many friends in High School.

i suggest GROW UP and get over the fact that their are some people in the world who want to be diverse.

why not make friends with people from other races? i mean friends are friends, forget the whole asian hangs out with asian thing.

I'm Asian, and while my high school had a high ratio of Asians, I have a lot of friends that aren't Asians. Actually, my friends are a mix of races now that I think back on it. I don't purposely make friends with Asian because they're Asians, I make friends with people because of thow they are, and how I like them as a person.

What's wrong with hanging out with different races? o.O I don't understand it. Why must Asian hang out with Asians? And what do you mean by it doesn't "work" for you that races hang out together as opposed to segregating? Put it this way, if you were the ONLY Asian in your class, you'd HAVE to make friends with other races unless you plan on being a loner. I suppose if it makes you so uncomfortable, you can always go hang out with the Asians...but then again you don't like that idea. So I guess you have to make friend with other ppl from other races or you will end up being a loner.

Hmm.. It's not a a bad idea to make friends with upperclassmen. All of my friends were upperclassmen and we all got along fine. I agree with everyone else and just get over it because you never know if one them could be you future best friend or boyfriend or whatever. Sheesh.

I have a lot of Asian friends, but I think it's because I had a lot of classes with Asian people so naturally, I befriended them throughout the year. Now that my entire schedule is rearranged and that I'm not in classes with those Asians as often anymore, I'm friends with other races. They're fine with me. I don't see why you should have a problem with it. It doesn't even seem like you have a language barrier stopping you...you just don't want to open your mind to the possibility that maybe non-Asian people can get along with you too. That new place you moved to must be pretty cool with the diversity.

I understand what you mean, sorta. I'm just in your opposite situation.
I was at a private school and now I'm at a public school. I do have friends since I went to afterschool tutor with half of the people I have out now. They're all Asian and I'm Asian. But sometimes I miss the diversity of my private school.

Maybe there's Caucasians or Filipinos that you can hang out with. They aren't exactly asian but they are pretty close. All of my non-asian friends are actually the people that I prefer to be with because they don't see everything in that "clique"-ish way.

By the way, I don't think your racist in anyway.
You're just used to a different structure.
