i don't know if this is a topic already and if so, please direct me to where I can find it-otherwise I'm starting this
Recently I was practically bitched out by my boyfriend's mother and I know I didn't deserve it I may have gotten out of line but seriously, no need to act like your 10 years old, not getting your way about something. has anyone else had problems like these? you know, with your boyfriend or girlfriend's parents not like you at all? Disrespecting you in any way, cause somehow I feel alone in this situation. |

i've never had that exact problem but my bf's parents i think don't like me because i don't think i am what they had in mind for their son. my bf is more of a clean-cut looking person whereas i walk around with tattoos and piercings. they dont say straight out they don't like me but i'm sure things are said once i leave the house.

Parents always dislike me because I'm shy and that comes off as rude.
But some go too far. Whenever I was with one of my ex's room with him, his mom would always say that the room stank and was disgusting. Once, they got in a fight and I started to cry and then she was like "Why is she crying? She's wasting my tissues." His grandmother was always rude to my face "Why is she here? Tell her to go home and that she doesn't live here." and "You're not wanted here." Once, his mom practically interrogated me. She said she wanted to speak to me alone, lead me to the living room and asked me about my entire life, she didn't leave any stones unturned: What kind of Chinese are you? How old are you? What grade are you in? What school do you go to? What do your parents do? How old are they? Do you know how [ex bf]'s grades are? How are you improving his grades? Do you honestly think that he has a future? I was never intentionally rude to them. I'm the type of person who doesn't speak unless spoken too. They always complained that I don't greet them, they never greeted me! Yes it was bad that you yelled at her but it's better than just taking it lying down. I probably would have just cried. I don't think I have ever yelled at any grown up/parents. |

You probably would've done better to control yourself and not lower yourself to her level and yell back at her.
ESPECIALLY since she's your boyfriends mom and Lord knows how moms are about their sons. Yes, it was very, VERY wrong of her to yell at you for no apparent reason. But you really should have respected her because 1.) Like it or not, she's your elder and automatically deserves some respect; 2.) She's your boyfriend's mom and you should really try your best to get her to like you. Yelling at her when she takes her bad mood out on you is not the answer. Despite the fact that she yelled at you and you two got into a huge argument, you should try and kill her with kindness, that way she looks like the fool instead of the two of you arguing like children. |

Like it or not, she's your elder and automatically deserves some respect; can i say i disagree with that 110%! i truly believe that if you want respect then you need to give it and if you dont give it dont expect it. good job for standing up for yourself just dont piss her off too much... shes his mom and she could ban him from you haha |

One thing, I wouldn't have suggested to just start yelling at her, even if it was your first reaction. So both of you did things that were wrong, so both of you deserve a apology. Even though she may have started it and brought it on to you, you need to apologize. Just go and be the bigger person. You have not think shes right or anythinig, but shes him mom and she has all the right to have her opinion.

(By the way, I'm mrs noll's boyfriend if you didn't know
can i say i disagree with that 110%! i truly believe that if you want respect then you need to give it and if you dont give it dont expect it. Exactly. I agree with you 120%. haha. Just because some one's older doesn't mean anything. Especially in a situation like this when she's clearly in the wrong. I don't care how old you are, wrong is wrong. I'm not gonna kiss your butt and back down if you're attacking me with idiotic statements and fallacies. Sure, wisdom comes with age, but there's plenty of ignorance to balance it out. That goes for all of us. My girlfriend has always respected my mother. even when she got on the phone that day she was very respectful. My mother was the one who disrespected Jessica first so according to that statement, Jessica had every right to disrespect her right back. Anyway, my mom is the one who yelled at Jessica and I should know my mom better than anyone else. It's not Jessica's fault. She's done nothing but respect her. My mother has no right to sit there at yell at my girlfriend for nothing. What happened was my mom called me a liar when I [u]was not[/i] lying and she does that ALL the time. She doesn't even have a reason to. Usually I just take it but I got mad this time because I am so fed up with it. So Jess called me to say good morning and I told her what happened and she asked to talk to my mom so I let her. The only reason my mother yelled at her was because Jessica was standing up for me and simply voicing her opinion. My mom's all fine and dandy until you cross her. She doesn't think she's ever wrong. I'm just glad Jessica's parents both love me. |
