QUOTE(D.H. Cooley @ Nov 20 2006, 8:35 AM) *
I would say no. In order to sin you have to break one of the ten comandments. It would be like asking if driving a car to fast is a sin, both have the ability of killing you.
^ True, but the 10 commandments aren't the only sins.
QUOTE(Angelina Taylor @ Nov 19 2006, 9:58 AM) *
Why let some fallacious book dictate your life? That's what I don't understand.

If it were all true, then we're all sinners. We've ALL done something sinful. So technically, we're all going to hell.

(Not.)

But I'll keep quiet. zipped.gif

^ Erm, too bad there's forgiveness, mercy, and salvation. That cleans you of your sins. mellow.gif

Also, it is against the law and the bible says to abide by laws sooo, yeah, there you go.

Since when did smoking become against the law?

For minors, yes. But not otherwise.

A while ago in NY. It's banned in public places, such as schools, restaurants, places like that.

Smoking weed is DEFINITELY illegal (in the us, atleast).

I'd say yes, for reasons already stated.

Though possession of up to an ounce of weed was nearly legalized in Nevada. But the referendum was rejected. Probably doesn't help that the mormons are next door in Utah.

is this the right forum but anyways i wanted to know if smoking is a sin in the christian religion im not talking about cigarates either.

I think (and it has been a VERY long time since I read anything of a religious nature) that if something (like smoking what I think you are referring to) is against the law, chances are a church would find it a sin as well.

All the other stuff being mentioned here, harming your body and such isn't valid. I only say this because if that were to be taken literally (and as mentioned before), a good 90% or so of what we do, what we eat, etc would be considered a sin.

This is according to what I know and based on the Christianity.

Technically, it's not a sin. But it is in one way because smoking is a temptation you led yourself into annnnd it keeps you from having a good faith with God. Did that make any sense?

it has always been banned in public places (or family-oriented places) to prevent second-hand smoking and other such things but it is not illegal (cigarettes)

okay, here is the f**king legit answer. i go to a christian school and they shove this crap down our throats.

when you are a christian, the holy spirit resides in you, so you can't be demon-possessed, unless you are "under the influence," then you are no longer YOU, and you have opened up a gateway to let satan into your soul. deep shit. <3

pot is low class, by the way.

Smoking is not a sin. Although using narcotics which limits the control over yourself, that is a sin.

. your body is a temple BUT ITS NOT GOING TO GOD. your soul is going to God and that is what you need to protect, not by what you drink or eat but by your ACTIONS and how you live your life for God and others. if your body would go to God then all coffins would be empty and you would see bodies floating up and down everyday. Your body is just an earthly thing. Your soul is what is leaving.

to tell you the truth smoking is a sin but to your own self.

BUT

if you smoke in excess it can kill you so your basically are comitting suicide which is a sin.

Smoking is harmful to your body, but then again, so is eating meat, taking certain medicine, drinking alcohol (which they give in Church), and playing sports...

Hmm, out of curiosity, says who? Those who made it illegal? Those who are religious? I mean seriously, who deems what low class?

You can can choose not to like or do something, but I certainly wouldn't consider any particular group or individual qualified to definitively determine anything as low class. It's just your opinion.

(I apologize if that seemed a bit hot headed, it just irks me when people deem things less than them, or "low class" in this case)
