Hello!

So lately, I've been going on createblog a bit more. Not to reply, but just to read everything. What I've noticed though, is that a lot of times, someone will say something, and the people after that will agree and say that too. Then almost everyone agrees.

I know I've done this sometimes. But when I stop to think, sometimes I probably wouldn't have said the same thing if that one person didn't say that. sometimes I do it just for the post, and other times because i feel "safer". I know that I can't be criticized for what I said. If I was to be criticized, the other person who said the same thing would have to criticized too. It feels better when you're not the only one being criticized.

But the point is, I find this behavior kind of annoying. I guess it's ok if it's really something that's agreeable in an obvious way. But if it's a complicated topic with a a lot of different possible replies, and a lot of people agree with the same thing, it's weird, and annoying. Isn't the point of a forum to express your ideas and feelings? Yep.

So my bottom line is, say what you want to say. Say the same thing as someone else if you really agree. Yeah.

Have a good day.

Three possible reasons:

1) Simply that people agree because they really do, or

2) because they feel inferior and worry that their own answers would be inadequate. I hate though, that they blame their inferiority on people that they perceived as superior to them. It's nonexistent. You are as inferior/superior as you make yourself out to be.

3) They may also be worried that someone will challenge their answers, so they assume it's safe to go with the majority.

I find it very irritating and frustrating when people jump on the bandwagon when it seems as though they're only doing it because it's the more popular opinion. Grow a spine and if you have something to say, speak out and speak for yourself.

Intruiging topic.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Usually I only reply with an "I agree" when the poster has stated it better than I could've.

After I read through posts in a topic, I don't tend to say much if I simply agree. Usually, when your opinion is different, you'll tend to say more for yourself.

I find that irritating as well. I've always been one to speak my mind. I'm not really concerned with what others think. I am who I am. Accept me or don't. That's the way I look at it. Sometimes I get the feeling that others agree, like you said, for "safety" knowing that their answers aren't likely to be opposed. I'm the opposite. I love having interesting oppositions and discussions. Because of that, I often find myself playing the "devil's advocate" if you will. laugh.gif

I agree. XD.gif See, I'm saying that because I really do and I'm not trying to just go along with someone.
I'll usually say what I have to say, esspecially if it's about some issue that I really stand by. If people challange my views, I really don't care. If I say what I think it might make them look at the other sides of things. They don't have to think like I do, but at least acknowledge that I feel that way.

Ah, but here again, the same problem shows up. Perhaps everyone here honestly agrees, but if you look at it, everyone's agreeing to what Kameko (Sean?) says.

Yeah (-agrees-) I feel bad when I only have posted stuff like "Yeah, me too!" so I at least try to support my statement.

When I agree, I honestly agree. & a lot of times, I find myself posting my thoughts even though it's been spelled out by a million people before me, but I understand and agree (XD.gif) what you've said; there is that fear of criticism when I first started around here, but it goes away.

Hello Phil and Sally!
How's life?

Anyways, this topic is really starting to confuse me.

As Yanners has said, everyone is agreeing with me again, which isn't a bad thing if they really do. I'm sure all of you agree. But you don't want to feel like you're following the crowd again, so you find ways to support why you agree. I think it's easier to find ways to prove me wrong.

But when you do, or try to, it makes you look like a smartass. In fact, I believe I've made myself look like a smartass by creating this topic, haha.

I really think that it depends what the topic is on, and how many different possibilities there are. And of course, it really comes down to how you REALLY feel, that you should be yourself.

Which brings up another mind-boggling topic. What is "yourself". How can you know who you are, if you've been agreeing or disagreeing with everything, just to be different.

I'm going to stop, before I blow my head up.

lol "b/c people are scared that they will be challenged"? wow some people take internet forums REALLY seriously. what are they scared of some text on the screen saying they're wrong? oOooOoh. and MOST people agree because the matters discussed here usually aren't versatile. they're usually like "DO U LIKE UR PERIOD?" and obviously the majority of people will say no. or they agree b/c another person brought up some good points and they realize they're WRONG and i'm RIGHT jk but yeah stand up for yourself yadda yadda

Mm..well, you can't blame people for not posting what they really think, especially if it's an opposing opinion.
Because admit it, a LOT of people DO take it seriously and start flaming them.
Okay, maybe not neccessarily flaming them, but they DO start getting on their case.
And believe it or not, forums are pretty much a virtual world. You get unpopular with one popular person, you're pretty much unpopular with everyone.
Idk if that makes sense, but yeah.

So maybe that's why people don't post their opinion a lot.

anyways, i don't find it irritating, because mostly when i see someone say "i agree" they give their own perspective of the point.

You're getting f**king ridiculous. Let's say I create a topic saying "Angelina Jolie is hot", and it's inevitable most people are going to concur with me. You did the same thing; you created a topic most people will most likely agree on and you're whining that people are going to agree with you. What the f**k do you want
