Hi there! I'm really incompetent about this stuff so I need your help. >__< I just got a website & have downloaded a layout to use and everything, but I have no idea how to upload it. My hostess says that I'm supposed to use FTP and I have the program, but I don't know how to upload the stuff. I've tried using the FTP site but the tutorial's an animation & I'm currently on my dial-up computer (our wireless isn't working...) so I can't use that. I tried uploading stuff on FTP & dragging stuff to the bottom, but the webpage still looks the same. [click]
So my main questions are-- -How do you upload stuff using FTP, and -How do you create webpages? Any help would be appreciated. ^^; Thank you! |

- Use smart ftp. Heres where you download it:
http://smartftp.com/ Heres where you learn how to upload files: http://smartftp.com/support/howto/ - You can create webpages in dreamweaver, frontpage, notepad and some other programs. Since most people have notepad. Just make them in notepad and change the file extension to .html. For a main page to show up you need the layout codes to be in a file called index.html or index.php . Just use html if you don't know anything about the php part. Then just keep adding your layout code to teh extra pages and writing whatever you need to. Then save those as something.html Then once you get all your pages made you can easily link them on the main page (index.html) . That way people can get to them. I think you should start off like that. Then once you get that concept down and you feel that you hate to add your layout to each code you can learn php includes. |
