I wanted to vent because I attacked today (verbally abused) by a couple of women who blamed my supposedly bad "work ethics" on my not being Christian.

Not to brag, but kids loved me where I work. I am on good terms with all staff and I have many older adult friends. I know people's names by heart, heck, I even know most of their kids' names and greet them like friends. But because I stopped one woman and tell her that she needs to follow the rules like everyone else, I was suddently UN-CHRISTIAN. Her friend was telling me that I was giving them an attitude because I wasn't Christian enough.

Hello? I'm not Christian at all. However, that has NOTHING to do with who I am or my character. I am simply someone who does her job correctly when she ask members to follow the rules!! It DOES NOT take a Christian to do it.

It's funny, because just 40 minutes before that problem, I was showing a pastor and his wife around and they commented how grateful they were for my help.

I thought the women's comments about my lack of Christian character was way random, and inappropriate.

Has anyone else encounted this kind of problem? Has someone randomly said you were un-Christian for whatever reason?

I'm sorry. I realized I'm being random (and not making much sense), too, but I wanted to get this shit off my chest. Sorry for being my outlet cB.

That woman must be pro-christian. blink.gif

It's happened to me before, because i'm from Guatemala and most people there are catholic.. but I live here so people assume I'm Christian.

But I am neither. mellow.gif

So what kind of "Christian" was this person?

Nowadays, anyone can claim to be a Christian. It's been so watered down that it's not even funny anymore. Even Catholic has been so watered down by people who think they can believe whatever they want and still be called a Catholic.

That woman was just too ignorant to say that.

I know there are many religions out there aside from Christianity which promotes goodness as well. And I know people who don't have a religion and can be a lot better than those who do.

Aparently she isn't exactly the best model of a christian. Your supposed to accept people for who they are, and if she just called you a bad person for not being a christian and since you told her to follow the rules. Just walk away, she has the problem not you at all.

EH, I hate people like this. pinch.gif

yea i know what you mean and i am one of those people lol. like i was born a catholic but i havent gone to church in a while. And my other friend who claims to be a catholic didnt know the difference between a catholic and a christian. I am slacking.

But people that call themselves catholic were mostlikely born into a catholic church, and stopped going to church. you know what i mean, thats why they still call themselves catholics.

..well....actually sometimes i do but not often because most of the people that i know are catholic but i do agree that it gets annoying for people to be all judging people just because of how religious they are or whatever.

You're welcome?

Fae, people really do have the most bullshit impressions of what Christianity entails. My government class is under the impression that if you're Christian, you must also be a conservative. However, being a decent person is really not a quality that beloings to any political party or religion..and the misconceptions I've been hearing lately are driving me insane.

^ You're totally right. To be Christian doesn't automatically mean you are conservative. Also.... REPUBLICAN doesn't equal CHRISTIAN.

*breathes*

Actually, I'd find it nice that you were asking someone to follow the rules... odd that they would call you "un-Christian".... weirdos.

Your religon might effect your character in some ways like... following the ways of your religion.

I would like to say that almost everybody thinks that christain's think they are the best and perfect in every little way. Some dont by the way. I have also the idea that some christain's think they are the best and no one else is better. That is wrong in my mind. I am christian and I am no where near perfect. I also think that we are all non-perfect. See sometimes I sware.. I do things that are bad.. aka braking my " Christian code " of doing good things.

This sounds like you were just doing your job. That should have nothing to do with your religon. She's just pissed at the world. I also think that she was in the wrong. All you can do is sware a little and let it in the past. Move on.. don't let a pissed off christian get you down because she was having a bad day. That's what I have to say about that.

I'm forever being told that I'm going to hell for not being a certain religion. Too bad for them once I get there, I'm ruling over hell...

^haha

But that is really messed up, religion has nothing to do with work ethics.

One time at work, I kicked someone out of the pool and the mother came over and told me something similar.

And Sammi was talking about some kind of stereotype or something about how people who aren't Christian are 'obviously depressed.' Which isn't exactly true.

Yeah. She's what I call a "Christian Nazi" Fae. I know, stupid terminology, but you get the gist. I've had my run in with quite a few. And they wonder what drives people away.

I hate it when people assume that all Christians are good people. I know plenty of baptized Catholics that I definitely don't consider to be good people. I equally hate it when people assume that if you are not Christian, you are not a good person. I know so many wonderful, honest, moral people that are not Christian. Yes, being a Christian can guide you to being a good person, but when someone says "Oh, he's a Christian, he must be an amazing person." Uh, no.
